Funnee Talk

Hi, I'm Danny Wallace. From Comedy Review magazine, remember? I also appear on Ian Collins' Talk Radio show at about a quarter to five in the morning, although I don't think I've been on it for a couple of months. Hello! Look at my stupid, criticism-free face. Welcome to my page! And what a page it is. So...hey, on with the page!!!

CHALLENGE DANNY!

This is the bit where you, the readers, bamboozle me with your comedy queries. Keep 'em brief, keep 'em coming...but, above all, keep 'em, y'know, quite easy so I don't have to do any first-hand research. Ideally, ask me something I already know the answer to. Or at least, something that'll be in Mark Lewisohn's book.

Q. Dear Danny, I hear Jack Dee is a comedian. Can this be true?
Matthew Pub, Bristol

You're quite right, Matthew. Jack Dee is a comedian. However, according to Jack, it can be hard work! 'It can be quite hard work,' he told me, today.

Q. Dear Danny, Is Frank Skinner going to be touring soon?
Darren Boozy, Kent

Yes, Darren. Frank is almost certainly going to tour at some point in the future. He will probably be appearing in venues.

Q. Dear Danny, I heard a rumour that the BBC have just found the rushes of every comedy show in the world. Can you give me any further information?
Roger Wilmut, Elstree

Don't be silly, Roger - I'm too busy partying! Visit my Pleb Room for a chance to win a Fast Show video.

Q. Dear Danny, Why is the comedy world in ruins? And, more to the point, why aren't you doing something to address the situation instead of talking about how Alan Davies deals with hecklers? With exclamation marks all over the place.
Some Of The Corpses Are Amusing, Somewhere

Well, Corpses, there are no plans for a new series as such. However, there will be a special film version screened in the Millennium Dome. Turnip-tastic!

DANNY'S MAD ABOUT ...

Here, I vent my spleen about an issue in the comedy world. I can be quite controversial sometimes, I can tell you! Although since this is an official BBC site I can't be too careful. And, to be honest, the most controversial thing I ever do is complain about Seinfeld being on too late, as if (a) it's an original opinion, (b) it doesn't act as publicity for the BBC anyway, and (c) videos haven't been invented and the whole country is populated by milkmen. Anyway, suppress me if you can!

This week, I'm mad about Rimmer from Red Dwarf. Why won't he leave Lister alone? You'd think he'd have learnt by now.

So there. Contact me if you have any views! But until next time, goodbye...and good comedy!
