I turn my back for a moment... Posted Fri Nov 9 18:53:13 GMT 2001 by Jon

I go away for a week and when I come back the dear old NME thread has disappeared completely.

What happened? Did it just collapse and become a black hole?

Not far off. It crashed itself and vanished, under its own unwieldy mass.

Rob's explained it in technical terms somewhere up there amongst the other threads.

Try the Select Magazine thread for an interesting variation on "whinging about music journalists".

And if you've enjoyed this film, why not see La Notte?

And for what it's worth, I've put the most recent version of the thread that was in my IE cache online at http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~sfs28/nmethread.htm

So there.

I like to think that it was the sheer bile contained in the thread that destroyed it.

How big did it get? 1500 posts?

I didn't save the index page, and I don't have the very final version, but the one I've got appears to have about 1020 posts on it.

It was a masterpiece of blagging. I'm waiting for a chance to use it on one of my customers ;-)
