Mr Barry Cryer sends a message... Posted Fri Oct 5 11:22:54 BST 2001 by LF Barfe

Visited BC yesterday. He was on splendid form and very touched to hear that there were so many people on here thinking of him. He sends his regards to you all. The operation was routine (not heart surgery as such, merely repairing a valve), but he's taking things gently for a few months. There's a Clue recording in Wolverhampton in a couple of weekends time, but apart from that, he's resting up.

Where do I go to see if there are going to be any near me?

All the ISIHAC shows will have sold out by now. You had to buy them in April or May in order to guarantee a place. Look for the ISIHAC mailing list and ask for spares on there. That's my advice.

Good news indeed. Glad to hear he's doing well.

I concur. Great to hear the Joker is still Wild.

Next time you speak to Barry, LF, ask him if he has any episodes of "No, That's Me Over Here" and "Bloodbath At The House Of Death". I want copies.

Oh, you do, do you?

While he's recovering from an operation, I'm sure that rooting through his video collection for grasping strangers will be the first thing on his mind.

I'll ask him nothing of the sort.

I don't expect him to root through his video collection while he's recovering from an operation. I'm fully prepared to wait a few months.

>I'll ask him nothing of the sort.

Do it for the sake of comedy.

You're too kind.

Well, I'm sure that this phenomenally rude request would make him laugh...

Most other people on this forum seem to get away with such bare-faced cheek. Why not me?

Besides, I've been after copies of those programs for years, all to no avail, so I feel I've earned the right to at least ask him.

Because you asked me directly to do something that I didn't want to do.

Seems to be the outlook of a great many people in the tape-trading world...

Erm, I've got a copy (well, two copies) of the novelisation of Bloodbath at the House of Death by Ray Cameron. Owen, if you want a copy, you're welcome to it...

Martin Noble, I meant. Based on the screenplay by Ray Cameron and BC.

Thanks for the offer, Barney, but I already have the book. It's specificly the program I need.

This is probably not a good time to ask if Barry would be up for helping me move a sofa on Saturday, then.

The removals business is formally on hold at the moment, but I'll see if he fancies the exercise.

Tell him I'm the bloke who confessed at the NFT to being totally obsessed with Jokers Wild, to which BC replied "you should get out more" and got a huge laugh from the audience, including the woman I love in the row in front.
