Ah! Sounds like The Star Wars Holiday Special. Nothing anyone can make up could be more inappropriate than that.

And, when you realise the next film's called "Attack Of The Clones", and that more monsters are being added to the original trilogy again, it's hard not to worry George Lucas might be thinking of filling his universe with yet more wacky sidekicks and useless gimmickry...

For someone so revered, he has astonishingly bad judgement.

"It's R3D3, Artoo's new girlfriend! Hey, li'l buddy, she's a real looker!"

...before complaining that The Empire Strikes back was "dark just for the sake of it", and nowhere near as good as the "joyous, eye-twinkling" Star Wars (when it was on the radio).

the christmas special is a joy to behold, for all the wrong reasons. carrie fisher acting like carrie fisher...on acid, because she probably was. mark hamill and his inch-thick make-up to cover his motorbike-accident scar. bea arthur as the bartender. a wookie called lumpy. carrie fisher (i think) singing the star wars theme with specially made lyrics. the whole plot. classic. the only properly good thing about it is the first appearance of bobba fett in that cartoon
