Old Grey Whistle Test compilations Posted Thu Sep 13 10:24:58 BST 2001 by 'Mike4SOTCAA'

Released on DVD, and on BBC2 next week.

Anyone know what's in them and what isn't? Anything they couldn't clear?

Although the comment I am about to make is one often - and rightly so - treated with scorn and contempt by fans of old programmes and television rarities who regale at such ignorance and unconstructive impudence, I feel the events in America this week more than warrant it.

Who gives a fuck?

So.....because of the terrorist attacks, we can't discuss old TV shows? Isn't that just playing into the terrorists' hands?

(Note to the stupid: I am being ironic.)

For the record Mike, get the current issue of Record Collector. Harris' BBC page covers the DVD and was largely compiled from requests on his message board.

I thought it was Radio 2, not BBC2.

Have a go at the people discussing the Bottom theme tune above. Or rather don't. Sometimes you need a burst of triviality to stop you going mad.

I hold nothing against you, Mike, nor the Old Grey Whistle Test for that matter. But the 'bursts of triviality' seem to be outweighing the more pressing issues.

And yes, I know this is a comedy forum, so I'm off to look for the Islamic Fundamentalist Chatroom, replete with edit-spotting of the Boston airport CCTV.

I think people come to forums (a) to talk about the situation, and (b) to take a momentary break from it. Each thread to their own.

It's when they cross paths that it gets upsetting.

The trivial threads need to be there. That's just human. Time people's posts. They'll be shivering and scared and angry on one thread, then take a break for two minutes and discuss the Bottom theme elsewhere. Nothing shocking. Just the way the human mind copes with fear.

Just keep them apart, that's all.
