Dizzy Heights Posted Fri Sep 7 20:25:23 BST 2001 by 'love me, love my lada'

My friend told me about this sitcom called Dizzy Heights. apparently it was hotel-based. I've never heard of it - any information?

Tried a search of Paramount, it uses the tried and tested Lee&Herring title formula, so it's most likely a dodgy US sitcom

It was a kids TV show late 80s/early 90s.
I seem to remember an annoying puppet - and the expected theme tune of 'welcome to dizzy heights hotel....'
Chuckle Brothers-lite humour.
Probably had someone like Zoe Ball in it so we can all laugh when Angus Deaton shows us what she looked like when she was younger.

There's probably other sit-coms called the same thing, mind.

I take it you've never been that drunk.
BBC Choice should repeat it, considering the crap they put on there during the kiddie hours, anyone remember Radio Roo? No, lucky you!

I should point out that i'm posting more through boredom than obsession with this sit-com...

DIZZY HEIGHTS
6 Episodes : Featuring Alan Heap & Mick Wall plus weekly characters in each different episode
This comedy drama also utilized the many talents of 3 puppeteers who operated a whole of unique puppets set in a holiday hotel. Each week a new guest would be submitted to the antics of the map hoteliers as well as encountering life size puppets staying as guests. Each week the guests dream would spectacularly come to life

As I remember, in the first series of Dizzy Heights a child would visit the hotel and have exciting adventures and suchlike. There was one kid who wanted to be a rock drummer, another who wanted to be an explorer, etc. This particular feature of the show was dropped in subsequent series, presumably to make it more "comedy" orientated, although I use that term in it's broadest sense. Lots of sub-Chuckle Brothers pratfalling from the two hotel owners, Mr Heap and Mr Wall.

Most of the show revolved around the antics of a hideous puppet family (Mum, Dad and son Eustace) who's surname currently escapes me, but they were popular enough to get their own spinoff series.

I remember the rubber family (superbly obnoxious if I remember correctly), and weren't there talking heads on the wall?

RICHARD ROBINSON played Victor Gristle
MARIE PHILLIPS played Vera Gristle
WILLIAM TODD-JONES played Eustace Gristle

This was around 1990-ish i think
