Before the plug is pulled... Posted Thu Sep 6 22:41:05 BST 2001 by 'Mark'

I'd just like to say a big thank you to the people I've met (virtually or otherwise) here before this forum evaporates.

Justin - for being friendly & informative when I first found this place.

TJ - for kind words and good company in Liverpool

Elise - for making me laugh

Charlie - for encouragement & making me giggle

Joe & Mike - for reminding me to think critically

love

Mark

Cheers. But this forum will still be here tomorrow. It's SOTCAA that's being deleted.

War, explosions, etc...

Yeah, and SOTCAA will be here tomorrow.....until 6pm.

This Forum will cease to be the SOTCAA Forum when SOTCAA is cut off to drift away into cyberspace - after which it will become simply The NotBBC Comedy Forum.

I'd like to thank all the people who made this website possible: my Mom; Chet, Butch, Merv, Chip, Buck, Brett; Huey, Dewey, Louie and the News... my publicist Pam Flett, my co-writer Sue Denime, my special friend Erik Schoen, my other special friend Liz Behan, Barry Stir - my barrister, Sally Sitter - my solicitor, my old drama teacher Toby Ornott OBE, my anger management counsellor P. Stoffe, and of course the irrepressible Doherty Pigue-Farqhar...

I'd also (*sniff*) like to thank everyone behind the scenes who made it all possible... you know who you are... if you don't, then it's time to stop making those trips to the free bar... (*pause for good-natured laughter, maybe applause - smile bravely through tears, let mascara run, give photographers enough time to get good shots*) So once again let me say how wonderful it has been to share this experience with all of you - every single one of you has taught me so much about myself as a person, and I want you to know that I cherish that deeply. The world will be a poorer place without SOTCAA, and... hmm? What? It's coming back? What, with its own forum and everything?

Well, tits to all this, then. Chances are we'll all be back to calling each other cunts within forty-eight hours of the new site opening - there's no bloody point getting tearful yet.

Who wants a drink?

Omitted a key word there. Didn't want to imply that there'll be actual acrimony or anything. Good Lord no...

It's doubtful this sort of pessimism is going to get us anywhere.

That bit in last week's Onion was one of my favourites ever.

BTW, did anyone see that bit about the Onion in yesterday's Telegraph? Headline 'Shock horror: American satire is funny'. Does a journalist finding a website he likes count as news?

Coo, it's just like when Bloom County turned into Outland, isn't it?
So, this forum will still be here?
Oh well, just to be on the safe side....

I'd like to thank Jake Thingy for veering unpredictably from the inspired to the insipid in his postings, and I'd like to thank Beelzebub for being gracious enough to respond to my tortuous (sp?)"Bohemian Rhapsody"puns (only three of them, but you should have seen the ones I didn't bother putting up), and also for being gracious enough to respond to my request for a shag (can we set up a web-cam for when she does her belly-dancing in The Yorkshire Grey tonight?)
I'd also like to thank Unruly Butler and Mogwai, the Cliff n Norm of this forum, for their unfailingly perceptive and -darnit!-downright funny regular contributions.
In fact, I'd like to thank all of youse-TJ,RHC,Velvet,Peter O,Scary Weirdo, Bent Halo,Linus, Schroeder etc....
But if this forum's staying, it seems a little premature. Ah,well.....

See? Everything's going to be just fine.

I wouldn't push that analogy too far - Outland never quite matched the genius of Bloom County and drifted away a couple of years later. I've still got all the books, though.

Anyone know what Berke Breathed is doing these days?

Another of those big, airbrushed, ostensibly-for-kids books of his recently came out: Edwurd Fudwupper Fibbed Big.
