A small question to test your endurance of light-weight "comedy"-quiz programmes Posted Wed Sep 5 13:59:29 BST 2001 by 'Mark V'

Name all the comedians who have appeared on ALL 3 of "Have I Got News For You", "They Think It's All Over" and "Never Mind The Buzzcocks".

HIGNFY brainstorm from 180 shows:

Steve Steen
Arthur Smith
Dom Joly
Bill Bailey
David Baddiel
Hugh Dennis
Pauline McLynn
Dermot Morgan
Jack Docherty
Moray Hunter
John Bird
John Fortune
Eddie Izzard
Jo Brand
Sheila Hancock
Tony Slattery
Steve Frost
Dillie Keane
Sandi Toksvig
Mike Yarwood
Frank Skinner
Stephen Fry
Griff Rhys Jones
Richard Blackwood
Mark Thomas
Rory Bremner
Maria McErlane
Clive Anderson
Meera Syal
Sanjeev Bhaskar

Loads more besides. There are listings out there (and at home) but I quite fancied the challenge for a couple of minutes.

Richard Blackwood is surely not, strictly speaking, a comedian.
He's more of a bloke who gets away with any old shit because he's black and speaks fast.
Unlike his obvious hero Eddie Murphy, who can actually be funny.
Junior Simpson is also shit, whilst I'm on the subject of black men.
Chris Rock is good though, and Mandella makes me laugh because he looks a bit like a Chinese man with fuzzy hair.
If that's a wig, then I'm not having it that he's black at all.

A Chinese man with fuzzy hair.
If I ever have to give a description of anyone to the police, for whatever reason, that's what I'm saying.
"So, did you get a good look at him, Sir?"
"Yes, officer. I'd recognise him if I saw him again. He was a Chinese man with fuzzy hair"

I'd have though R.B. aspires to Will Smith rather more. Given that he isn't funny and makes awful music, i think he's got there

Didn't Mark V want only the comedians who had appeared on all three of the shows at one time or another? That was how I read it.

The syntax wasn't stiff enough for me. I never watch the others, and struggle with HIGNFY. Ho hum.

Baddiel's been on two of them...

Jonathan Ross must have been on all three.
Frank Skinner would make sense as an answer.
Bob Mortimer?

That's as maybe, but the capitalised "ALL" was a fair pointer, if you ask me.

Was it here or somewhere else that someone described Hislop and Merton looking like a loveless married couple going through the motions for the sake of the kids?

Jeff Green's been on all three, surely. Or is it just that he _seems_ to be on telly all the time?

No cos if that was true I would have walked into a shopping centre and started shooting up the place.

Tho he has been on at least 2. 2 too many if you ask me, oh you're not. ok then

Jonathan Ross
Rory McGrath
Donna McFayle

I'm glad someone else thinks that Junior Simpson & Richard Blackwood are poor too.

I think John Moloney has been on all three, and so has Rich Hall. Rich Hall's been on Room 101 as well.

Ah, Arthur Smith too.

I had this very opinion challenged at the Comedy Store last year. He did a blinding 30 minute set - no particularly revolutionary material, but some great lines on dating and sex.

I haven't seen him since, so it could have been a one off. My judgement remains suspended until next time.

Richard Blackwood is a right old pranny.

Don't remember John Moloney on HIGNFY.

I once saw Junior at Birmingham University. He realised poor quality gags about the difference between whites and blacks were wasted on a middle class white audience and started doing stuff about sex. Everyone suddenly started splitting their sides laughing. After all, what student wants to admit they don't find observational comedy about sex funny?
"If you don't find this funny, you probably don't get laid alot" was all I managed to utter to my straight faced mate through crocodile tears of laughter. He got the picture and his sides soon began splitting.
