'Ian Lee leaves the room'. I found that rather poignant.
"Iain Lee thinks" - Lie.
To paraphrase Iain Lee on the subject of Dare for Dosh
"it's an easy way of making money and looking like a tit in the process"
I don't believe that this man is fully self-aware about his career.
>I don't believe that this man is fully self-aware about his career.
On the contrary; I think he knows exactly how much he gets paid.
>>I don't believe that this man is fully self-aware about his career.

What - £500? :D
>Make your own minds up about the answers he gave. I refrain from comment.
To be fair, he's hardly going to be quoted word for word in a web chat. I've conversed with him at length about that attributed quote and he still maintains that the general thrust of his original reply was that he tries to take elements of what Morris does (the street interviews, the extended metaphors), regardless of whether you think they're the strongest strands of Morris' comedy, and use them in a more populist way. Lee consistently maintains that he isn't a patch on Morris. I'd have thought that SOTCAA forumgoers more than anyone would have recognised a journalist-edited soundbyte when they saw one.
>Incidentally, the webcast attracted 19 plucky souls, which compared to the thousands that some of the Big Brother contestants got, isn't really a great return. It also explains why there are some strange questions towards the end as the modulators were getting increasingly desperate to find things for Lee to answer.
Yeah, unusually small number, but it was a bank holiday.

Some of those questions are a bit suspicious:
>JJ : what is 'dare for dosh'???
>Baloo : What's the email address?
>Princess Qabala : How ridiculous does ridiculous have to be? Can you give us an example?
>Princess Qabala : Do you get 500 smackers regardless of what you do? Or is it a sliding scale?
>Monkey Nuts : Can anyone apply to take part?
>Baloo : How many eps is Dare For Dosh, and when is it starting please, sir?
Charming Demon, were you the only non-E4 employee at this chat?
I liked his assumption that the 11 ocs show only went shit when he left. I can't help feeling that Iain Lee isn't **that** bad, but that the 11ocs was not realy a good vehicle for him. Or anyone. Its all the fault of the writers, I say. Iain Lee ain't going down in history but can't you direct some of his abuse at some more deserving people? Like the ENTIRE FUCKING CAST of LUCKY BAG or whatever its FUCKING CALLED. who gave tv to the welsh? they should have known this would happen.
He's not as bad as Ricky Gervaise, at least.
When asked about Lee and Herring: >>Iain Lee : The embarrassing thing is I had to interview Richard Herring at the Perrier Party and I know that he famously hates me and he did hint that he was going to have a go at me.<<
Oh poor Iain. I'm sure all our sympathys are going out to him(!) aswell as wondering why Richard Herring didn't kick his head in
Iain Lee :
<<I didn't steal any of his jokes either!>>
What a LIAR!!! A dirty scumbag did anyone else see Liquid News when they showed his clip of him having a strop. Brat!
Iain Lee is useless at interviewing, he just can't do it so he resorts to insulting people instead; it's not funny, it's not clever and I'm sure his interviewees would like to ram his face in a red-hot Breville - Iain Lee, toasted, sealed and cut in one swift move. Ketchup, anyone?
> I'd have thought that SOTCAA forumgoers more than anyone would have recognised a journalist-edited soundbyte when they saw one.
Very true, which is why I gave him the benefit of the doubt and asked him whether he'd actually said it or not before wading in with wild accusations.
However, I'm still not conviced about the answer given. None of the people at the webcast, or myself, got round to asking the obvious question (and I doubt it would have been posted even if someone had) about what the point is of taking the main elements of someones act and replacing them with your own populist version. Other then, that is, an attempt to soak up the ratings in a quick and easy fashion.
Perhaps I could be enlightened that it's for another reason then this, one based purely in the interests of good comedy?
How can he say 'I never nicked any of L+H's jokes' after saying in the same chat '..But we've cleverly changed it from Dare for Dollars to Dare for Dosh! See what we did there? See the trick?'
Well, I suppose saying it in a webchat isn't the same as nicking it outright, but still, y'know... lame!
