you are referring of course to the children's TV programme of the 80s? if so then try TV Forum i think. it isn't comedy or maybe it was. never mind. I'm more tired than you.
"when will the BBC repeat Morris and the Minors ? "
When everyone's tired of their endless Goodies repeats.
But when will the BBC repeat Morris Minor's Marvellous Motors?
Hopefully, never. Just for the record, a piece in Private Eye at the time claimed it was originally supposed to be "a hilarious satire on Monkee-type pop groups, who are mere puppets in the hands of their managers" -- and to prove the point, management at Noel Gay TV, which made it for the Beeb and was then headed by Paul Jackson, attempted to have the original trio fired, and legal shenanigans followed. Does anyone know why Tony Hawks has more hair now than then?
>Does anyone know why Tony Hawks has more hair now than then?
It's grown?
Anyway, hasn't Morris been in enough trouble over programmes about Minors lately?
During the original run, the early radio series of MWE was also running. Baddiel always put in a line about how shit MMMM was.
eg. a sketch about an alien getting in touch with earth culture, only to tune in to see "Morris minor"... and then kill itself in despair.
Or maybe the details were different. But the point was that some being or person killed itslef in disgust at Tony hawks' sitcom, in any case.
Erm I could be astronomically wrong here, but is this the same Morris Minor who was responsible for a very BAD record called the Stutter Rap??? I found that on the back of an old cassette tape the other day, along with Harry Enfields Loadsamoney and Help with French and Saunders and Bananarama.
Just curious.
>Erm I could be astronomically wrong here, but is this the same Morris Minor who was responsible for a very BAD record called the Stutter Rap???
No, it was the one and same Morris Minor and the Majors. I was very keen on that song at the time, although my parents disapproved of the 'down on my luck/ and I'm dying for a fffffffffffriend...' bit.
They even released a follow-up single in 1988, called This Is The Chorus. The record shop I worked in at the time were given shitloads of free copies in the hope of squeezing it into the lower reaches of the chart during the silly season (or "summer" as it's technically known), but it got to number 94.
Whenever someone gave a particularly crap (or literal) answer in the Punchline Competition, Baddiel would say something like 'I think they've misunderstood the concept of *comedy*, errrrrrm...perhaps they could be a scriptwriter for Morris Minor's Marvellous *Motors*'.
He did the same joke with Something for the Weekend and Laura & Disorder, I recall.
Anyone remember The Firm's follow-up to 'Star Trekking', called 'Stars Wrecking'? A Beastie Boys spoof with exactly the same tune as the original. I'm sure I didn't dream it. Annie Nightingale liked it I think.

According to http://www.allmusic.com , there was a whole album called "Serious Fun". They say of it:
"John O'Connor of EKO was one of the masterminds behind this outfit (who were unrelated to the Jimmy Page-led supergroup.) While some of the humor falls flat, the set is notable for the inclusion of "Star Trekkin'," a major comedy hit on both sides of the Atlantic. Also included is a rerecorded version of an earlier British hit, "Arthur Daley ('E's Alright)," a song inspired by the TV series Minder."
No tracklisting information provided, sadly.
I don't remember the Arthur Daley single at all. But I would only have been 10 at the time.
Ah, I knew my childhood record collection would come in handy. The tracklisting of Serious Fun is:
Star Trekkin'
Girls Got Feelings Too
Arthur Daley ('E's Alright)
Snookered
Heavy Metal Robot
Start Wreckin'
Superheroes
Strawberry Ice Cream, Jelly And Cake
Monster Rap
Cash In Hand
Summertime On 42nd Street
Pop Stars
And would you concur with allmusic's 3 star assessment for the album, Squidy?
I haven't heard it since I was 8. From what I remember it was very funny, but not as good as Timmy Mallett's Bombalurina album.
I have this on 12", with the fine "just another boring b-side" on, yes, the b-side. For other interesting b-sides, you might try "Quids and Quavers" from "What will I get for Christmas from 'er Indoors?". Very poor.
Actually me and Joe came across the Star Treckin' single a couple of months ago, and bought it with the notion of using it in a DJ set. The B-side was the favourite i think.
The Stutter Rap was awful, joyless nonsense. But This Is The Chorus was a gloriously accurate pisstake of Stock, Aitken and Waterman, which I loved and in fact still own.
