MY POEM

UNCLE TOM
oh uncle tom, my childhood friend
how i wished it would never end.
you bought me sweets and took me to the park
and took me home when it got dark
my life now never does seem
to compare to those days of fun and ice cream.
you were the best friend i ever had
much closer to me than my mum or my dad.
you were kind of strange but always jokey
you came in my room playing 'professor pokey'
then one day,
they took you away
i never found an equal replacement.
was it your strangeness,
was it your beliefs,
or was it the pictures they found in your basement?
thank you.
'au contraire? that guys crazy'

What was in his basement? I've got some old Pannini 86 stickers in mine. I know the old Sheffield Wednesday keeper Martin Hodge is down there, and I think the shiny foil West Brom badge is about somewhere.
Probably Frank McAvennie too, I kept getting him when I needed Cottee.
