Hip Hop goes satirical Posted Wed Aug 22 16:10:13 BST 2001 by 'James M'

Without wanting to prejudge something I've not heard, I can't help but think "oh dear".

It's been done before, and no doubt it's been done better... (satirical hip-hop, I mean, not Not Gay tees).

DC Basehead's fan*fucking*tastic 1992 album Plays With Toys, took the piss out of gun-toting niggaz at the same time as inventing Country Hip-Hop, which is a lot better than it sounds. Several diamond comedy moments, some lyrically brilliant lovelorn songs, ("Ode To My Favourite Beer" being one of the best tracks of the decade, IMHO), and they never fell into the trap of being the new Tony Hawks. (Hawk? One's a skater, the others an ex-novelty rapping comic... you know what I mean).

Second albums a big pile of poo though...

should you want to take my word for it, and then wait 6 months for Amazon to discover they don't have it in stock after all.
