I think TMBG were just influenced by RH+SL, in the same way 11ocs was influenced by TDT. It isn't necessarily plagiarism.
Trivia:
Terry Pratchett is very fond of TMBG.
I don't understand the question.
Are you saying it's similar to the Dr Fox joke we did in a very obscure link thing for Channel 5?
Because it isn't really.
I don't know their work, but I can believe two people can come up with a joke this similar without knowing of each other's existence
another question for rich and stu. i saw the fist of fun book in blackwells online shop for £8.99. is it worth getting for this price? i mean really honestly?
I think it is worth it. It's a good book
But you have a chance of finding it elsewhere for 99p. Though this might involve a degree of searching and time
Only you can decide how much your time is worth.
>I think it is worth it. It's a good book
>But you have a chance of finding it elsewhere for 99p. Though this might involve a degree of searching and time
>Only you can decide how much your time is worth.
could you explain that to my employers please?
>But you have a chance of finding it elsewhere for 99p. Though this might involve a degree of searching and time
>Only you can decide how much your time is worth.
Is this a riddle?
Zen and the Art of Second Hand Bookshops
Another question: Is it worth staying friends with someone you don't particularly like just to gain access to their copy of the fist of fun book?
>another question for rich and stu. I saw the fist of fun book in blackwells online shop for £8.99. is it worth getting for this price? I mean really honestly?
I remember someone seeing my copy of the book at my house and squealing with delight because her copy had been lent out and never returned. I saw a mint copy at Cost-Cutters for only £5 and snapped it up thinking that said person would be delighted. Only trouble is I have no memory of who it was who wanted it, maybe I should sell it on E-bay for millions or wait until another person sees my copies and falls to my feet worshipping me like a god for having a copy of said book.
I'll give you 6 for it
A touching true story - my sister and I really liked Fist of Fun. The Xmas after the Fist of Fun book came out, we both bought the book for each other as a present. My Mum (who knew what was happening) didn't intervene so as not to spoil the surprise. This is true and genuinely quite moving in a way.
Also, my entire peer group still say things like "Aaaaaaaaaaahh" to this day.
The FoF book is worth at least 99p of anybody's money.
>Are you saying it's similar to the Dr Fox joke we did in a very obscure link thing for Channel 5?
Yes.
>Because it isn't really.
Well, bollocks. That Channel 5 link made my day at the time. (goes off to slash wrists)
>I don't know their work, but I can believe two people can come up with a joke this similar without knowing of each other's existence
You'd probably enjoy them. And to this end, I present the following collection of L+H / TMBG crossover gags.

Histor's S-E-X-X-Eye
Spacesuit... er... which you'd need to go to the moon...

...oh Christ, now I really *am* going to kill myself.
Birds Fly (Fly - like a bird flies)
They'll Need A Crane (Crane - like the bird crane)
Mr Klaw (a bird has claws)
Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head (like Histor who is a bird)
Kiss Me, Lord of the Dance Settee.
>Histor's S-E-X-X-Eye
S-E-Eggs-Eggs-Y, shurely?
TMBG related fun : swing your browser towards ftp://208.44.40.4/(FrankBennett)-KissMeSonOfGod.mp3 for a lovely Sinatra-style cover of KMSOG.
Oh, and everyone rush out and buy Mink Car as soon as it's released. It's rather good. And any Brian Hurst's reading: don't worry, Top Twenty(-one) Smash 'Boss Of Me' isn't on it.
