Coogan shows with the correct dates, we can only hope.
I enjoyed it, although it would be nice to have had more on the writing / recording / formation of On The Hour. The behind the scenes material on I'm A.P. was particularly good, espceially the way they wrote material - Coogan improvising on film, then incorporating that into the script.
Bollocks, I clean forgot this was on. Is it being repeated?

Did anyone else notice that Morris wasn't mentioned by name once? Bizarre.
That's like filming a Lou Reed docu and omitting any explicit references to Andy Warhol.

Or like filming a Steve Coogan docu and omitting any explicit references to Chris Morris .
PS - Peter Baynham looks plastic.

and patrick marber was on scag..
i cant leave my name cause i mighnt get done
did anyone catch any subtle hinting at TDTD2?
Coogan's on the cover of Time Out this week. Anyone read it yet?
Yes, I have. Quite interesting.
Thanks for that.
I thought Patrick Marber looked quite handsome and not at all smug (as I had expected him to seem). I don't particularly think that Marber's the best actor ever but all his KMKY characters seemed to be really self-satisfied and sneery. What with that and Stewart Lee's opinions of him expressed here, I had really not expected him to seem so reasonable and pleasant-sounding. But what do I know, eh?
going back to Mr Baynham, he didn't look very well did he? I hope the little love is alright........
It was a good SBS i thought, Coogan was a really good interviewee and quite candid in places i thought.
sorry this post is a bit away from the way the thread is going, but i was out all day yesterday and i wasnted to say it was good.
I thought it was a terrible programme. Simplistic in structure and style and offering no real insight into the man himself.
Ah well. That's yer modern SBS.
>going back to Mr Baynham, he didn't look very well did he?
I'm so used to thinking of him as "Peter" in Fist Of Fun that seeing him with a tan is very disorienting.
i know what you mean, i felt his technicolor appearance on the SBS was so weird, but then i had just drunk a bottle of red wine........
Yeah, but Baynham is still funnier than YOU LOT, no matter what he LOOKS like.
Goodbye SOTCAA nazis.
>I thought Patrick Marber looked quite handsome and not at all smug (as I had expected him to seem).
I thought Patrick Marber looked like Richard Herring. I think he wants to be Richard Herring, with his plays and his comedy and all that.
>Yeah, but Baynham is still funnier than YOU LOT, no matter what he LOOKS like.

>Goodbye SOTCAA nazis.
we'll be seeing you at the drink then?
twit.
Did you see the permanent smug smile on Marber's face whats he so happy about? He hasn't worked for donkeys years!
Apart from the play he wrote and directed at the National Theatre, and taking Closer to Broadway. Lazy bastard.
I was introduced to someone yesterday as 'he's the brother-in-law of that playwright that you hate - the one who used to be the crap stand-up' - I leave it to you all to work out who they meant.
I missed this so can anyone tell me if Henry Normal was on it and what his contribution was. We all have a strange obsession in life and the diminuative mancunian poet turned writer has always been mine.
While the scenery and weather in Thailand is fantastic I am now hugely upset to have missed something about Coogan. What was it? A docu and what was the content?
> can anyone tell me if Henry Normal was on it and what his contribution was
Yes. He talked a bit about how Coogan's various characters had developed, but to be honest I wasn't listening too carefully to what he said as I was too mesmerised by the fact that he sounds EXACTLY like Bill Oddie.
He does not sound like Bill Oddie - cheek.
In fact I have two of his poems stuck on my wall in front of me to remind me of him.
I am 35 years old.
He DOES sound like Bill Oddie. I was thinking the same thing while watching the Coogan SBS. Henry Normal is obviously a made up name. I smell conspiracy.
Of course, 'normal' is the opposite of 'odd(ie)'.
Coincidence? (yes)
I could bore you with the depth of my obsession by telling you his real name and various personal details - nah !!
He does not sound like Bill Oddie - I still have all of Encyclopedia Poetica on tape to prove this and he has signed all my books of his poetry.
>He does not sound like Bill Oddie
The similarity is more pronounced than I ever remember it on Packet Of Three. Then he was just a bit husky. Now - and if you'd seen the programme you'd have had to have agreed [grammar] - it's Bill Oddie. Only better looking.
In his radio interview, Coogan said there was to be a vehicle for Alan Partridge "some time next year"; considering this was recorded last year, when are we going to see Alan's show? (and don't say IAP was crap)
