Lars Von Trier's "The Kingdom" Posted Wed Jul 25 17:46:14 BST 2001 by 'Phil A'

Series 2 of this on BBC2 next week. Um, what happened to series 1? And why is it showing as an "adaption" rather than in the original format?

I saw the first series of this on German telly a couple of years back. It's bloody disturbing, and probably largely off-topic on this discussion board! Watching it is like having a really weird nightmare. Odd that BBC2 have decided to launch straight into the second series. Are you sure the first one hasn't been shown on UK TV before?

Series one went out in 1997 (covered in 'Douglas Who?' thread) and the tx gap has indeed been massive. It was shown on Australian TV and elsewhere in 1999, but has yet to get a UK video release like the first series did on the Manga imprint.

Fucking brilliant show, even if it has been shoved into the death slot.

Oh, goodness, it's *that* 'The Kingdom'. Hospital, hauntings thing?

Only the faintest memories, but I'm sure I remember something. Late night on BBC2?

Stephen King is currently producing and directing a remake of 'The Kingdom', it's due on US TV late next year apparently.

they showed the first series on film four a while ago and i was hooked. then it ended with a cliffhanger and i was gutted that they hadnt shown series 2. i am so glad that bbc2 are, though i can understand people being pissed off that series 1 hasnt been shown recently. i loved von triers little summings up at the end of each episode with his 'good' and 'evil' hand gestures
