Blackadder IV ... overdubbing Posted Tue Apr 3 14:30:20 BST 2001 by 'Dick Dastardly'

Blackadder goes forth - Corporal Punishment. Blackadder, due to be executed for eating Gen Melchetts prize carrier pigeon, raves about a hot-shot lawyer named 'Massingberd'. Except that every sentence featuring the lawyers name has been overdubbed, at least on the off air VHS I've got. Why? Was there originally a different name for the lawyer character? Did this name bear too close a relation to an actual person, who got the hump, hence the need for the name to be changed? Was the show ever transmitted in its 'original' form?

And do any lipreaders out there know what Morris is _actually_ saying in front of the bank of monitors in the final episode of "Brass Eye"...?

I already asked that Blackadder question about six months ago but no one knew.

I can't lip-read, but it looks like some variation of "masturbate" to me.

Maybe they thought it was too smutty or something. Or maybe it's all in my head.

I taped it when it was first broadcast, and all the overdubbing's on that, too.
