French and Saunders appeal to depressed people's sense of humour
12:29am Tuesday, 03th April 2001
Depressed people find French and Saunders funnier than other comedians.
But those with no mental-health problems prefer Eddie Izzard, psychology researchers at Glasgow's Caledonian University have found.
They studied how 42 volunteers, aged 23 to 55, responded to TV clips of different comedy acts, also including Rab C Nesbit and Harry Enfield.
Those with psychological problems laughed less at all the clips except French and Saunders.
Project leader Brian Bennett says: "Laughter has a very important social function and it has been shown to have beneficial effects on the immune system and mental health."

Easily explained - some sycophantic moron gave a self-imporant 'scientist' far too much money to do whatever the hell he liked with it,=.

Maybe it's hard to laugh less than no times at all.
