Norman Lovett nearly meets the most magnificent woman on television. Posted Thu Feb 1 11:05:29 GMT 2001 by 'Sam D'

Was that Norman Lovett on "The Good Life" last night?

And why does every one rave about Barbara Good when it's clear that Jerry is far luckier than Tom in the wife department.

Margot Leadbetter. Magnificent.

Shame it's not usually very funny.

Nope, it was Milton Johns, sitcom second fiddler and bit part actor for many a year.

Probably 'cos Barbara is cute and there's always a sneaking suspicion that Margot is indulging in some behind-the-net-curtains sapphism with Mrs Doomes-Patterson.

Oh, I heartily disagree. How can you find unfunny a programme where Jerry refers to Margot's "gown"?

Cheerio

I'd like to see that!

Boh. That sort of mistake is what makes me realise the foolhardiness of getting unusually drunk (by 7.30) on a Wednesday.

Now THAT I would pay to see.
And whilst I concede there is a certain cuteness to Barbara, Margot would tell you what was what. Marvellous. Penelope Keith was also a favourite of mine in To The Manor Born.

Wasn't To The Manor Born described by someone recently as the worst sitcom ever made? I am relying very much on blurred memories here, but I recall it being alright.

Yeah, that was good. It's just all a lot more strained than I remember it. Unusual choice of plot, I suppose, the whole loom/ spinning wheel thing, which I tip my hat to. I can't stand Tom Good, that's my main problem. I don't have a problem with Briers in general. Just Tom Good.

Bye, then..

You fools. What are you saying? Getting all hot and bothered over some ficticious lesbian sauce-fest when in front of your eyes was Barbara tipping gravy down herself. TGL was worth it just for that. Oh and Vyvian's monologue.

(the shouting subsides...)

That was a highly articulate outburst, Jim. I only hope they're not watching.
