I also saw it, and wondered if they'd combined all the credits for both shows into the credits at the end of what would have been show 2. Also, does anyone know if the other shows are being repeated - there isn't one this week.
Given the controversy about the "ending songs" on these shows (are they funny, do they work etc) , did anyone, like me, think the musical break was better for turning up in the "middle" of this repeat?
Because there were two shows glued together, one song got the benefit of being a breather in the middle (and made me laugh because of it) whereas the second (funnier) song got short shrift by having to be the pay off to the whole show, as usual.
It put less pressure on the music spoof, and reminded me of the golden age of radio, where Max Geldray or The Fraser Hayes Four would appear in the middle of The Goons / Round The Horne to give you a musical breather.
I noticed the same problem with the final song on Victoria Wood's Xmas show - not a strong enough gag to end on, but would have been a nice break in the middle of the show.
