Kign Stupid / 99p Challenge Posted Fri Dec 22 10:34:56 GMT 2000 by 'Qq'

Being quite a fan of the first and a bit of a fan of the latter, i would have been quite interested to read that article, but what the hell.

Anyway, down to business - the King Stupid series was presented by a bloke called William Van Dyke - who is he and has he done anything else?

William Vandyck will be covered with praise in a nice article about the Radio 4 series 'And Now In Colour' (and its overlooked TV spin-offs) on this site soon.

There's a nice picture of him as Satan tempting Jesus in the Lee and Herring entry (Edit News).

Last seen fronting a spoof TV documentary about the adverse effects of the kids programme 'The Rottentrolls' on adults.

Recently described by an eminent radio/TV producer as 'a talent waiting to happen'. So true.

I've wanted to kiss his feet since I hit puberty.

It has to be said he was very, very poor in that Rottentrolls documentary...and totally lacking in stage presence at the King Stupid recordings......

I like him.

Thanks for the info, folks.

I will add here that the main problem i had with "99p Challenge" was that Vandyck wasn't fronting it and Sue Perkins was. Perkins may make a good contestant on shows like this, but she can't do a scripted gag for toffee. Nor can she improvise when she's concentrating on getting her script right, like Vandyck could.

Anyway, just wanted a bit more info to back up my personal belief that King Stupid was the best thing there has ever been on radio, ever.

"main problem...Sue Perkins"

From what i remember from the article, the corpses might agree with you on that (well, and the problem of Simon Pegg, obviously...) \Does that article not appearing have anything to do with one half of a comedy duo currently writing for Sky One? hmmm

Sorry Rob.
I just love digging up the past. Some people say i'm a necrophiliac, but they never proved it in court...

Hmmm...

I deliverately phrased my first question so that it wouldn't drag all that business up again.

Oh well.

It's not a question is it? I thought it was a statement.
