Simpsons Diana Edit

Just a tiny thing that your Simpson's edit page regurgitated in my dome... on the day the Queen of Candles was untimely snuff'd, I tried to escape the horrid crush of enforced hypergrief by watching the Simpsons... it was the one about Burn's teddy, Bobo, and he's trying to get it off Maggie... he puts her pacifier twixt his gums to amuse her, and a passing photographer preserves the event. Burns shakes his fist at him and shouts, 'Damn paparazzo!', but on that day the 'p' word was blanked out altogether, with not even a substitute sound - just silent moving lips. Wierd, because they could have just shown a different episode...

An ideal example of cutting something out for no good reason really.
If you asked them why they did it, they would have said, to avoid offending people after Diana's death. And, in a way they would have been correct. But very wrong.
Ask one of the people who would have written in if they really and honestly knew WHY they had been offended by hearing the word "paparazzo" then they would have said... er.. well they would have probably said "yes", but they would have been lying.
Would they know what it meant? Really?
Anyway, "paparazzi" is now the singular. Ask anybody.

RTE (Irish TV network) show all Simpsons uncut, as far as I can tell. And they show it during "The Den", the childrens TV portion of the day.
Which is quite cool, but an outmoded way of thinking about animation (ie cartoons are for kids).
It remains uncut not because they wish not to censor it, but because they are lazy bog-brained Murphys.

A scene never to be seen again (?) :
Barney, waiting in car, with matress on roof for Homer to land on : "Ooh! Princess Diana!"
(Drives car forwards three yards, Homer misses matress and lands on hard, unforgiving road.)
Barney: "Oh no, it's just a pile of old rags."
