Thank you, TJ. Hope you enjoy the new series.
Looks good to me...
Incidentally, I did attempt to send you a list of existing "Do Not Adjust Your Set" shows during the downtime - did this reach you, or did it go astray?
And plllllllleeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssssseeeeeee can we have an Edit News section on Syd Barrett???
>Incidentally, I did attempt to send you a list of existing "Do Not Adjust Your Set" shows during the downtime - did this reach you, or did it go astray?
It did. Cheers. As mentioned, the Bonzos piece is currently being updated. Lots of new bits to add.
I line 'She's as cute as a squirrel's nut' qualifies Barrett for coverage here, I reckon. Maybe not Edit News though.

Fair enough... just wanted to show off about my knowledge on the subject!
Just discovered you're back on. Excellent stuff.
Joe, is this our blue album?
Looks like it. Remixed from the original mono opinions by George Martin.
This is your 'own' forum then? Does that mean that you won't be contributing to the other television forum?
Anyway, like those brave souls who have posted before me I should also like to welcome you back on-line. You appear to have more Net access than before: have you found gainful employment or has your library gone on line?
Gee
I've just come here to congratulate SOTCAA on coming back.
I'm off now to finish reading why the 100 TV Moments From Hell were wrong (I had to stop after practically choking with laughter on number 61: Heil Honey, I'm Home. "Idiot film historian" indeed).
And it was nice to be noticed in the 11 O'Clock Show comment: "As one forum contributor amusingly noted, there is nothing more ludicrous and self-important than wearing a wig to disguise your appearance (as Alexander does to transform herself into 'Suzannah Waugh') when nobody knows or cares who you are in the first place." That was me! 'Marcus Brigstoke Syndrome'. I'm so proud.
Welcome back.
When you write 'People's Class' Corpses, do you mean the One Nation theory as depicted by Disraeli in "Sybil, or Two Nations" or simply egalitarism? Or do you mean put all the shit on Carlton, Channel 5, and BBC1 and put good stuff on BBC2 and Channel 4? There may be a problem with your idea. Channel 4 has forgotten how to make good television and I really don't think they're up to the task. In short Channel 4 churns shit out for the middle classes because they're just as stupid as we working class people. In fact as a real plebe (son of a bottle inspector and biscuit packer) I'm astounded just who thick the middle classes are. Moreover don't forget that's it the middle classes who control television and if there is a lot of shit on it's because some daft middle class idiot wrote it.
Gee -
Channel 4 hasn't forgotten how to make good television - they just recognise that shit sells in higher quantities. Experimentation is out, cheap popularism is in.
I'm afraid I'm far too working class to understand the reference points you mentioned, but read through the article again. You'll find we do actually agree with you.
Don't worry Joe. It's A-Level history quipping if ever I heard it.
Disraeli was gear. Dish those whigs!

It's a bloody degree!
>It's a bloody degree!
They clearly haven't taught you much. I flunked it at A-level and still understood what you wrote.
At least now I know you're not another 'Gee' I'm acquainted with. He does nuclear logorithmics or something.
Another great thing about history education, other than discovering what a guy Disraeli was, is the indisputable fact that Emile Pankhurst looked exactly like Patrick MacNee. And that's true.
Emile Pankhurst is far too well thought of. The nasty shit gave out white feathers to men she thought were conscientious objectors.
I always thought she was a ridiculous hero for women.
Indeed, welcome back. Read the comment section - excellent. I question some of your wording, but agree 100% with the sentiment.
Is this forum a separate entity from the TV Forum. Will the ident boys get it back to themselves? Good for them...
Be seeing you...
Lovely to have you two stinking cadavers spewing your rancid bile over God's internet again.
The "I'm the King of the Forum" 'Jon' book made me giggle, which is something a screen rarely does these days.
Invited to the Channel 4 press launch, eh? Yorkshire Grey not good enough for you these days?
Great to see the return of the site (*fawn, simper, i'm not worthy*). The 100 TV Moments From Hell review was worth it on its own.
One point on the subject: I'm sure I saw the Bee Gees/Clive Anderson interview being repeated on another clips show shortly before 100 Moments... but with just stills rather than video footage. Anybody remember what show this was?

It's weird re-reading all those Jim Yoakum threads in thr OOTT bit again. Jon's postings do seem to live up to a what Rob S. was saying about him in the TV Forum. That said, my own contributions to the OOTT debate look pretty fucking feeble too.
>Invited to the Channel 4 press launch, eh?
Mm - they won't be making that mistake again...
>Yorkshire Grey not good enough for you these days?
We went there afterwards in fact. Luckily, we managed to said pub more or less intact...
Wahey. Can I just say that the blue suits you?
Mmmmmmmmmm...it's SO good to have the site back. The 11OCS bit is spot on. It's times like this I'm glad to be an insomniac. Sorry - I think I've just come.
*dives back in*
Hello.
I'm going to be boring and predictable and say "Welcome Back" also.
The The 100 TV Moments From Hell piece was fucking great - the same kind of stuff me and my friend (and eveyone else smart) said as we watched it, only so much more succinct and entertaining.
I laughed for several minutes at the Ant (or is it Dec?) pic and caption.
I spotted this mistake in your Comment article.
<'The League Against Tedium' is exciting precisely because a media pigeonhole doesn't exist in which to place him.
I think you'll find the pigeonhole is clearly marked 'tedious'.

It was The Talk Show Story, presented by Michael Parkinson (part 2 , if you're really interested). And a BBC1 production.

Not as odd as my question about whether the play was coming to London being the final message on the page. What an anti-climax. Is it meant to be a satirical attack on Yoakuum's Americanisation of all things Monny Pyth-Arrrn? Cos it wasn't meant to be. And I'm a bit ashamed at saying 'Ostalazuzalum' so loudly in the middle of the debate.
Welcome back etc. Good to see the comments page has been expanded - possibly the funniest section of the site.
And its good to be able to see the OOTT debate again.
Just wish i had the time to read the whole fucking thing. Thank god its almost the Christmas holidays. Quite good timing, that.
Hello!!!!!!
So lovely to see you back - I'm looking forward to this
(rubs hands with glee)

That's what I thought. I find the blues a little bit similar on the forum though, hard to tell what I've already read.
Good to see the site back.
Agree with your sentiments over C4, and the dissertation on a certain clip show was great.
Yeah, it's good all that Channel 4 stuff, about the launch and that, I was having a read of it just now. I liked that FAQ format, which is just basically like a two-hander, you know, like the JSBG Recollections, in effect, and all the other shit that was done.
Well, that's good, aye.
Hey Joe, did you eat all food and that when you were there? Did you put any in your pockets for after? I would have. Like at that karate competition up the college before. All them people with their bare feet, doing all kicks and stuff, and there was this buffet. Then back up the bar for a drink, pockets still bulging with little bits of pastry, essentially; nicer than crisps or nuts - more filling.
I'm fucking starving, I am. I could really do with a load of fucking food now, not proper food mind, just loads of bits of funny shit.
I should have got some chips before they closed.
Hello Ev - got your PC then? Or are you working phenomenally late in the office?
