DVD of Life Of Brian

Just watched this.
Any Python fans seen it too? I'm referring to the Criterion Edition from the States. Nice package, but interesting in the sense that the commentary tracks reveal some nasty / nice Python truths.
a) Cleese is AWFUL. (I supsected this, but his fall from grace is shocking. He's even needlessly rude about the performances of the other Pythons and still evidently bitter he didn't get the lead role)
b) The Gilliam / Jonesey commentary pisses on the Cleese / Palin one. Far more interesting. Why are the visual guys more interesting to listen to than the verbal ones? Is it because all the verbal jokes are in the film as it stands, while the visual ones need to be pointed out?
c) Idle is interesting, witty and amiable for the first time in a decade.
I was delighted and surprised.
Nice to see the cut scenes restored properly too, rather than the edited versions Paramount have been hawking round. Why cut the cuts?
Has anyone else seen this stuff. Thoughts?

Is Idle on his own then?
