These are prhaps the best idents ever. I'm sorry but they beat Thames skyline. Did any of these get awards if not here is what certain ones should get
Best logo: (1991) Glass, (1995) Car, (1997) Zapper, (2000) Woodpecker
Worst Logo: Water
Most over used logos: Paint, Dog (very recently), duck, blade, & Neon
Least used logos: car, optics, swans, predator, & Catalyst
Should have gone by now: Water, Paint, & Powder
Should have stayed: Glass, Shadow, firecracker, balloon, diary, steam
scariest: steam (music wise the scriest)
Most inventive: Predator, car, dog & woodpecker
least inventive: paint bucket (just the opposite of paint), shadow (plain but effective), Water
Do you agree & what do you think should be more choices of design for BBc 2 in future. Do you think there should be a change (personally no).
Also Predictions of what might dissapear in 2001. The reason i choose Dog & Paint is because very very recenly these are always on & this is what they did with Diary & Copper Cut out in the last few monhs (oct-Dec 1999) in 1999 before they dissapeared.
Coming soon from BBC 2 possibly a special version for the norman wisom season (starting next Monday 2:00pm), there is also christmas cookery & gardening night that week as well but they might not bother with them (both on seperate days) & looking at the TV times for the first week in January statrting Monday (I think) there is going to be Victorian Week so there is possibly a new version there.
Sorry for rambling on but there was no point of having four seprate threads for each one

Did you see the Simpsons ones on Simpsons Night (couch gag with Simpsons as 2s and a 2 coming towards the screen a la The Simpsons intro sequence)? They were my favourite idents ever.

you forgot the plane (as in wood plane), the banister football star and the giant speaker.
I like all of those.

I'm afraid I think it's time to retire the current idents - I did some alternatives one - I'll try and scan them in.
They were basicaly back to basics idents - black on colour backgrounds
There was one that was a black barcode on white,
there was a red one of 0s and 1s and they filled the picture until you zoomed out and the 0s and 1s were on a TV screen and in the shape of the big 2
I'll look it up
I also had another idea which was a development of the balloon idea on BBC ONE - it was a boat with a blue sail with a map of the UK on it, shown against various backdrops round the world (Sydney harbour bridge, Sugar loaf mountain, Statue of Liberty etc) - sort of the opposite of the BBC ONE
