I'll withhold judgement until I've seen it, but you might be right. With scripts as delicately structured as OFITG, pulling scenes from context will make it look like Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em, or Last Of The Summer Wine, where sequences build to a visual climax that can easily be snipped out ("Oh, he's fallen in the tar").
It's not funny that Victor's buried in the garden, it's the inexorable build to the farcical payoff that provides the comedy.
God knows what any non-fan will make of the compilation. Probably just glad they missed what appears to be clunking farce.

Disappointing last episode? i think so. If Renwick can't think of a way of making death funny (which is strange, as i'm sure he;s done it before) then what was the point in the episode? What was the point in the ending as well? Methinks he got confused between OFITG and Johnathan Creek...
