Hmm.. Posted Fri Nov 17 13:26:36 GMT 2000 by 'Steven'

So I take it that SOTCAA was shit strand was completely made up and written by the Corpses? Because I sure didn't post anything on it, and the rest of the posts look like parodies. I'm confused, the forum was down yesterday so I haven't actually seen anything here until just now.. Ho Hum...

Yes Steven, they're taking the piss out of all forumgoers whilst placing an ad for SOTCAA's return in December.

And they're having a go at you as much as the rest of the us.

Hmm, well anyway, I'm in college and just checked in my lunch break to see wether the forum was back online, I only read the first few posts and didn't really understand what the hell was going on. I've read them all now and yes it is obviously a large piss take. I do find it quite amusing, anyway, I'll be back to spell badly and talk apparent shit when I get home later.. bye bye

No they're not.

Well they bloody well ought to be. Has it occured to you that the reason people have argued with Steven (yes, argued. Not ganged up.) is that they don't agree with him. And no disrespect to him personally, by and large I don't either.

Steven has opinions, and puts them forth on a forum about television programs.

Why would anyone take the piss out if that? Most people on this forum just indulge in pointless bullshit and in jokes, and are actually irritated when someone takes the time to express their opinions, especially if (god forbid)they differ from the widely held ones.

So why should Steven have the piss taken out of him, exactly?

The phrase used was 'have a go at' and I think Steven is just as much a suitable target for criticism as anyone here. He doesn't just 'express opinions' - check out the Python thread - sometimes his views are worthy of criticism.

And why are jokes 'pointless bullshit'? A strange view on a TV comedy forum...

Note I said "in jokes", ie. jokes to a knowing few; boring rubbish to many.

Well too bad. I still don't see why people can't post whatever they like - in jokes or not. This is an open forum, and nobody is bound over to make postings that are understandable to all, nor should they feel obliged to entertain you (or anyone else for that matter)

I'm with Al. Recently too many people have been taking the "you don't have the same viewpoint as me, so you're not allowed to voice it" stance. If we really did all have to think the same way, then we might as well just give up and start laughing at the fucking 11 OCS

Well for the edification of everyone, the reason why my writing is garbled and missing letters and spaces most of the time is because of my cacky 8 year old keyboard which is on its last legs.
And the fact that I was taught entirely in Welsh therefore my English vocabulary and writing was severely handicapped, even though I hate Welsh and haven't used it since leaving school.

While I do think most of my posts here are obviously not structured in a very asthetic way, dismissing my opinion simply because of some typos or not paragraphing every single bloody sentence, is just petty.
But when I'm writing normal posts like this I don't think my argument has to be incredibly detailed and unbiased. But the large triple post I made on TGP I think was better thought out and better constructed than my usual ravings, even if you still don't agree with it. So there you go.

I know! Hence my defending Steven!
Did you read my post?

I never had a problem with the idea that Steven voiced his opinions - I just find it a bit rich that people were mocked for taking issue with them when many of them (possibly not the TGP ones - I wasn't involved in that particular discussion) were so ill-thought out. And the only problem I ever had with Steven's presentation was the lack of paragraphs - just made his longer postings very hard to read.
