lazy celebrity endorsements Posted Wed Nov 15 21:46:50 GMT 2000 by sheep

There's a cheap ad running on local radio that, to me, seems to have gone as far as is possible for celebrity endorsements. Never mind having D list travel programme celebs fawning over washing powder, this lazy and cheap commercial doesn't actually involve a specific celeb.

TAXI CAB INT.

CABBIE : You'll never guess who I had in the back the other day. Wassisname off the telly. Told me all about double glazing. Reckoned local glazing firm B are experts.

etc.

I despise celebrity endorsements, but this wound me up even more. That a non existant, never named, hint of a celebrity is enough to sell something to local radio-listening plebs. [might not even have been double glazing - I care not].

Haha, that's class. I also love Gloria Hunnifords amazing bed adverts, and she even gives her away a book called 'Gloria's Book of Sleep' with her name in big letters on the front with a large picture of her, I never she was an expert on sleep and wrote novels about the subject, or maybe it was all just made up.

You don't get this on BBC Local Radio, thank god!

You just get the presenters promoting their local appearences instead!

eg catch Malcolm Boyden of BBC WM in panto.

Um. I think you've missed the point of the advert. Or are you being very ironic or something?
