The Sunday Format Posted Tue Nov 14 21:42:14 GMT 2000 by 'Phil'

Surprisingly good this, isn't it? The most entertaining thing I've heard on Radio 4 in a long time. But I am shallow and easily impressed. Does anyone else have an opinion?

I missed the first episode of the new series, though I heard some of the original series. I liked it and thought it clever, but I tired of it rather quickly. Used to think it would have made a really funny one off show, but a series was pushing it.

Slightly annoyed that I missed tonight's show though - was curious to see if it had gained any staying power.

Yep, I like it too, the skipping about the articles is good. And the background music works well.

I listened last night and it was the first time I'd heard it.

I thought it was quite funny, but it moved very fast and you really had to concentrate hard to keep up with them.

It's a very good send-up of Sunday newspapers and their inane, try-hard-avant-garde articles that could only appeal to middle aged, Red Bull drinking, media wankers in Hampstead.

I agree that it would work better as a special or a short series of specials.

Actually, it would probably work a lot better as a book.

Or if they didn't do it as a newspaper on radio, but instead did it as how a Sunday magazine style radio show would sound if it were written by Sunday newspaper journos.

I like it, it's about time Sunday papers were shown up to be the complete waste of time and energy they are (I know this because, er, I buy one every week :-)

Nice touches, like the way the background music cuts out briefly for the picture captions. It's definitely the editing that makes the show, by cutting between the articles when they get boring, although I feel there could be even more of this.

I like that too. It's a good way of avoiding repetition...in theory.

Errr... not meaning to be fussy, but why is it not *on* a Sunday?

Nobody would be able to listen, they'd be too busy reading the Sunday papers.
