I think that the 110OCS used to be funny with Ricky Gervais, but since he left, i didn't watch it anymore, and uit can't end, it just can't. That Female presenter person is really good looking!

We should really perform a "victory dance" thread.

"It is a source of justifiable pride to everyone at Channel 4 that 18 years on, despite the suffocating competition of today's TV market, we are still able to offer a more diverse and intelligent mix of programming than any commercial broadcaster in the world at absolutely no cost to British viewers."

Diverse? Intelligent?

Though there is no actual confirmation that it IS axed, they are "undecided" as to whether to do another series.
Looks unlikely though.

it's moving to fit in "Iain Lee Live and Uncut" the ''popular and innovative series where TV's Iain Lee gives his own personal views on the homeless, gays, small people and other non-threatening targets'' He'll also be tackling controversial subjects such as masturbation

Said the famous Iain himself, 'it's a bleeding good show.'

Did that have a theme?

Sorry to disappoint you, but I have heard nothing of this. I wasn't actually in at 11OCS offices today, but I know people who were and they haven't mentioned it. Two things make me unsure of its veracity:

1) The NUMBER of viewers has dropped from the last series (now roughly about 0.8 to 1.1 million) but the SHARE of audience in that 11 o'clock slot is actually up, and it has been said in past weeks that this is a lot more important, as 11-12pm has become a real battleground post Big Brother. Certainly the average age of the audience has risen to the early twenties, and the show is luring back more high profile advertisers aiming for people with more disposable income (ABC1s basically) which is what Channel 4 are really interested in.

2) The feeling amongst people involved seems to be that Channel 4 would almost commission a 6th series by default, as not doing so seem to be an admission that Sarah and Jon weren't better than Iain and Daisy, which I have to say is something most people seem to disagree with.

I'll keep you posted if I actually hear anything.

A Bit of the 11 O'Clock Show

Yes, it went sort of:

Not a lot, not a lot,
You'll be delighted and excited
Maybe, but not a lot
You're going to see a whole lot of magic
Look at this trick and that trick
And when he says "not a lot"
You know it's really such a lot
Meet the man who excels, Paul Daniels...

I remember that last line:

>Meet the man who excels, Paul Daniels...

In my mind, it is sung by three session singers. One is a castrated male, the other two are scary females and they all have those strained "Variety" wobbly sounding voices that characterise the BBC at its most desperate-to-please on a Saturday evening in 1980.

Back on topic, I'd like to see Ian Lee being stretched out into a thin strand of skin and wound around a biro with which Daisy Donovan writes a letter of apology to the nation.

Ooh. Careful. Never celebrate the demise of a comedy show (though, by God, I'd like to crow the demise of this one from the roof of St Ethelburga's). The execs will use it as an excuse not to commission something else "dangerous" and "experimental". Horrid though it sounds, that's probably what they thought 11OCS was...
They won't replace it with Brass Eye repeats, you know... Prepare for "My Family - Live and Uncut" three times a week on C4.

Update - according to C4 today the 11 OCS may well be recommisioned IF Sarah and Jon want to do another series. Series 5 was always going to be the last series anyway - BUT that was before Iain lee jumped ship - and it appears that Sarah and Jon have turned the Channel 4 (and viewer) thinking tide and it's awaiting THEIR decison re a sixth series.

And 'bit of' is right - share is up and C4 are pleased with the new team.

S&J may however wish to move on - both are in talks about future projects.

Good of the Guardian to scream an "axe" headline based on the words "haven't decided yet". Lets not let facts get in the way of some ill-written copy eh?

I may be sticking my neck out here but isn't "My Family" quite funny?

It's interesting to see this strand develop. It seems that any mention of this fine upstanding comedy show leads to calls for the death of Iain Lee, yet if the same programme is mentioned on a Channel 4 board, they are up in arm wanting the same lanky man back.
Some people just don't get it...
