Ah, but I like Brosnan Bond. And I like The Lost World too. Only because, unlike Jurassic Park, it had the guts to JUST BE ABOUT MONSTERS EATING PEOPLE. Which, if you're going to make a film about big f-ing monsters is what you ought to do.
Um. Worst sequel? Blair Witch 2? Scream 2? Just on principle. Why destroy / subvert a genre then attach electrodes to its chest and jerk it back to life?
Problem Child 2.
2010
Scream 2 was even better than Scream. Scream 3 wasn't,though.
Worst sequel: I Still Know What You did Last Summer.
Porky's 2
I never saw it, but I object to Ghostbusters 2 on principle, the principe being it should have been left alone.
They shouldn't have done that rubbish cartoon series either.

Also, apparently Ghostbusters 3 is coming soon. Actually I thought Ghostbusters was rubbish. And Thompson.
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear.
2010!
Was there a film of 2010? I agree, the book was dreadful, but 2061 was worse. Haven't read 3001(?) yet, and I don't think I'll bother.
The book was OK, but the film of 2010 was scuppered by Hymans trying to bring in a Cold War story about US/Soviet confrontation.
But the book was just Clarke cashing in anyway, since it follows the 2001 film not the novel (in which the Discovery flies to Saturn - for the film Douglas Trumbull couldn't get the effects ready in time, so they simplified the plot line). It's noticeable that 2001 has a more sophisticated storyline than some of Clarke's solo works such as "Rendezvous With Rama". Which suggests that Kubrick had most of the creative input, seeing a greater idea from a curious little short story of Clarke's ("The Sentinel").
Actually that's unfair, the idea of early humans being studied by aliens is also in another Clarke story ("Encounter At Dawn") so he probably came up with that bit.
2001 was a perfect example of two people with different ways of looking at the world stretching an idea in two directions at once, and producing something more edgy as a consequence. IMHO, it's the best work either of them did.
2010 was directed and written by Peter Hyams, not 'Hymans' as I put it earlier.
If you read 'The Lost Worlds of 2001', you realise what a ballsup Clarke would have made had he been the only creative force.
Well, I agree. Just look at 'Rendezvous With Rama', his 1st post-2001 work. It is a ballsup of an interesting idea.

Which is supposedly being filmed with Morgan Freeman, I understand.
It's still a lot better than Rama II.
Good sequel: Addams Family Values
Bad sequel: Poltergheist 2
Doesn't need/want a sequel: Shawshank Redemption
>Good sequel: Addams Family Values
>Bad sequel: Poltergheist 2
>Doesn't need/want a sequel: Shawshank Redemption
I've said this before, but Shawshank Redemption would have been so much better if Morgan Freeman had found Tim Robbin's wife's head in the box at the end.
HE DID IT ALL ALONG! AAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Yeah, but it wasn't a horror movie mate.
You do know this is about sequels and not 2010, what the hell is 2010 anyway?
Sequel to 2001.
Aah.
TK, for the scifi freak you claim to be, you're not very up on it are you? No offence. More Love.
>Yeah, but it wasn't a horror movie mate.
Oh, it wasn't? Then my suggested ending must have been humorously inappropriate. Sorry, it won't happen again.
I've always thought that all films should end with Sid James' laugh.
"Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship... BWAUGH HAUGW-HAW!"
Another sequel possibly on its way - Look at:

and decide for yourselves....
>>You do know this is about sequels and not 2010, what the hell is 2010 anyway?
>Sequel to 2001.
>
>Aah.
Not Aah. Surely it was the sequel to 2009.
oh let it go, the fact is no one has a copy of 2001 to compare them to anyway everyone is relying on their memories, which is exactly the problem with things like MASH, funny in the memory, offensive on watching back
1) I have a copy of 2001. It's ace.
2) I quite liked 2010. And I really liked Rendezvous With Rama.
But I am rubbish.
Worst sequels? Ghostbusters 2 is a pale shadow of the original.
I know the original Highlander isn't that good, but it's fairly entertaining. Highlander 2 on the other hand... BLEAAARGH!
I don't like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom either. (tho' Last Crusade is alright...)
You are lying Al, there is no copy of 2001, go look for it I bet you can't find it, they all stopped existing when Kubrick died.
And I love all Indiana Jones Movies, especially the bit with the rope ladder (TOD) and the bit where he has to walk across the chasm(illusion). V.Cool
I have to admit, I only like The Last Crusades, anyway, more terrable sequels...
... GOT IT!!!
Home Alone 2, and Home Alone 3 for that matter, And a small question, that could be retitorical, (you never know)
Is 7, related to 10, 2001, and 2010? Although, I've never heard of movies called 8 and 9.
Oh, well!
P.S. RHC, I'm not a Scifi feak! What made you think I was one anyway?
Many Love!
TK- you watch Stargate and stuff... don't you?
Yes, but that is about the only Scifi thing I watch, apart form Futrearma and Farscape, that is all, (Join in my new debate about, The Britsh Nation watching to much TV! Your views count!)
May I be the first to congratulate TK and RHC on their forthcoming marriage?
'Temple Of Doom' was set in 1934, the year BEFORE 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark' (1935), so it doesn't count as a sequel.
The man who played Hitler in 'The Last Crusade' was none other than whatsisname who played Mr Bronson the bald French teacher in Grange Hill (true).
Michael Sheard
Withnail and II
LOL!

So do I have to start a prequels thread now? And isn't Mr Bronson a Nazi character in something else too? (He does crop up in unusual places - he's even in 'Remembrance of the Daleks.')
Bad prequels? Is there such a thing? Let us hear some of these to! Can't think of any for myself!
BAD SEQUELS:
Babe 2: Pig in the City
Ace Ventura: Nature Calls
Universal Solider 2: Why to Sequels need subheadings?
Didn't think any of the orginals were any good anyway...
Aha! Prequel bad: Star Wars- I only saw it to see the oh-so-lovely Ewan mcgregor!
>Bad prequels? Is there such a thing? Let us hear some of these to! Can't think of any for myself!
Butch and Sundance: The Early Years
...and of course one of the Pyscho sequels told us about Bates's childhood, which made it like a prequel...
PS>RHC>> I have copies of both 2001 and 2010.
I obviously meant Psycho, of course.......
Tesco?
>I obviously meant Psycho, of course.......
The prequel to Psych1?
