This week's Thrills in the NME

I'm not going to get in to the whole "they nicked that nostalgia TV shows idea from us", even though they clearly did (even to the point of using exactly the same minor celebrity names).
But I wonder if they'll be so keen to slag the whole TV nostalgia industry in 10 years time, when David Stubbs will probably be writing a fishing column for the Mail On Sunday, or some other guff, and so will be called upon to remember Craig David in "I Was Alive In 2000 But That Doesn't Mean I Know Jack About It" (all channels, 2009). That's what I love about music journos - they can't wait to do a Burchill or Parsons and bugger off to a nice cosy little Sunday supplement to talk bollocks about their ex-partners, cous-cous and trying to be as working class as possible (even though they obviously aren't).
Firstly, I predict that Kitty Empire will be TV critic of the Daily Express.

I like the "will Julie Burchill be straight or gay this week" frisson that precedes opening the Guardian magazine every Saturday.
Last week she was straight.
This week, Matthew, she will be a dinosaur.

I think Kitty Empire is an absolute sweetie-pie, and she can write for whatever paper she wants as far as I'm concerned.

Mmmm. Got very excited just because she was named after a Steve Albini song.
More journalists should do this.
"And now, over to our man on the spot, Tiny, King Of The Jews"...
