The Sunday Format Posted Thu Nov 2 16:10:56 GMT 2000 by 'Jon'

Starts next Wednesday on R4, 6.30pm. I can't remember the line-up, does it have Rebecca Front in it this time? Who else? I only heard a little bit of the original series.

Yes. And Chris Langham.

I love this programme! Best new radio comedy since People Like Us, probably because it's written by the same guy.

'By sunset, it was already getting dark'

'We were in Russia before we knew it, although we didn't know that at the time.'

'When I met him, it felt as if I'd known him for years, which was prophetic, because years later, I had.'

He's not writing it this time but many capable writers are including Nick revell

Why didn't Revell get his own series? He did a TV pilot in '89, and there was supposed to be a series, but it never happened. Then he had to go back to radio.

Don't think he _had_ to. He probably just likes radio.

He wrote for 'Drop the Dead Donkey' and 'Dressing for Breakfast' and a couple of novels.

He also did stuff for Dave Allen.

It was based on his radio series which was (wait for it....) better on the radio. Who played "him" in the tv pilot?

That bloke in the annoying water filter ads, where his live-in lover says 'It's *my* cup of tea'.

That reminds me, I had a Revell query for you lot that I never got around to asking...seem to remember seeing something yeeeeeears ago called 'Off The Wall' with him in (I think it was a vehicle for him and two others, but I can only remember his bits). Was it a one-off or a series?

Excellent news - this series is seriously good.

It was a one-off, I've still got it - there was a spoof on yuppies titled Shitty City Big Bang. Perhaps not surprisingly in view of that, Barry Cryer was credited as a script consultant or something.
