Or 11ocks-ish
Haven't you been found out, denounced, and purged from the team yet, Nunuf?
The Daily Show is very good indeed -- low-key and clever. Most comedy writers I know agree that if the 11OCS followed its format and attitude it would avoid many of the criticisms voiced on this forum.
I saw it once on holiday. It's like those Dennis Miller Weekend updates that used to be on Saturday Night Live interspersed with dull interviews with comedians contracted Comedy Central.
Maybe it's not that unlike t11O'CkS after all.
Jon Stewart was brilliant as guest host on The Larry Sanders Show. And did anyone see that thing called Where's Elvis This Week? (BBC2, 1996, on Sunday nights). Sarah Smith produced it. I didn't see much of it at all.
Where's Elvis This Week was excellent, and it's a real shame more wasn't made of it.
On the subject of the Daily Show, I'm pretty sure that the 11ocs was (supposedly) modelled on it. I'm also pretty sure that Forum favourites They Might Be Giants feature occasionally as musical guests. *That's* what the 11ocs needs.
TMBG were on the Larry Sanders show once too, funnily.
They were on TOTP once as well.
WETW was terrible! British and American comedians having to explain their jokes to each other, the highlight being Arthur Smith's monologue on "keying".

Apparently not.
I am spending the year in the US and as such have seen the Daily Show on a couple of occasions. It ain't great.. In fact, it is incredibly 11 O Clock show-ish. John Stewart is clearly talented, but the material is as weak as you would expect from a daily satire show. On the whole, they tend to have lower standards for comedy (except for all the good stuff - Simpsons, Seinfeld, etc..)
Weirdly though, I saw one the other day with Posh and Baby Spice, which was kind of funny. Posh didn't have a clue who he was, and, not understanding his (rather heavy) sarcasm, openly told him that she didn't think he was funny.. He came back with a brilliant (in my opinion) comeback - "I know you British have a very sophisticated sense of humour, and I'm sorry, but I'll never be the next Benny Hill".. Perhaps you had to be there, but it was funny at the time. Of course, I don't think Posh even knew who Benny Hill was, so it was lost on her. But it was weird seeing two of the most successful people in pop music being pilloried in such a demeaning fashion to their faces.. They were like the rubbish guests they had on 11 OCS last series like Suzy Quatro or Vanilla Ice..
On the plus side, I get the A Team EVERY SINGLE NIGHT at 10:00. Niice.
