The way that the theme tunes of "The Magic Roundabout" and "The Equaliser" are virtually identical always hurt my head...

No they're not. The Magic Roundabout is der, der, da, der, der, der, der, da, der, der, derrr, and the Equaliser is da, der, der, der, der, der, der, der...

They are plainly different.

Talking of which (only half tv-related, this one), a thought keeps taunting my brain with the idea that the theme from Animal Magic is disturbingly similar to the tune of Mack the Knife.

Maybe that was intentional and I'm the last person to realise. (Bloody Johnny Morris always did like to keep secrets from me...)

Anyone? ITV afternoons, 1970s?

Actually no, it can't be Picture Box - the last line has one "dee-doo" too few.

Actually I should bow out of this (admittedly most intriguing) quiz, as I'm almost cerainly too young to remember the programme in question.

Nele, that's too obvious for words (which, I suppose, explains the lack of them).

You've invented a form of Name That Tune specifically for people who went deaf in the 1980s. Personally, I'd be bloody proud!

I did need that clue. "Farmhouse Kitchen" - that is a *great* theme tune, TJ!

We actually still have a copy of The Farmhouse Kitchen Cookbook in our house. Very good and practical it is too. (Honest!)
