TFI Friday Posted Mon Oct 30 13:51:13 GMT 2000 by 'RB'

The Spice Girls present the first programme of the new series (10 November)

"The hour-long show is the first of seven celebrity presenter specials offering the most diverse mixture of wit and wisdom, pranks and laughter and of course - the very best music around"

So says Channel 4 press info

No mention at all of C.E.

C4 have decided to let TFI die gracefully in the face of falling viewing figures, apparently.

Obviously the way to let it fade out with dignity is to get the most famous group on the planet present it for a bit then just stop.

Boh.

It will be presented by different grades of Celeb each week, starting with the scrapings of the shit barrell, Spice Girls, then the Big Brother guys, Davina and Dermot and Kylie Minogue - Even Richard and Judy will be having a stab. At each other, hopefully.

On the subject of Chris Evans, does anyone else remember a show of his, the first one I saw, called TV Mayhem, on TV-AM? Saturdays, I think. Please tell me it wasn't just me again...

I remember it. My mum thought he was 'silly', mainly after he asked us what type of animal appeared in the Blur(?) video, and to send our answers to Dog Competion, TV-AM.

Still, Muppet Babies was fab. "They'll make your dreams come troo-oo..."

YES! I remember the same bit! And wasn't there some sort of bloke dressed up as a baked bean?!?

Ummm...

Don't remember a man of baked beans.

Wait a minute, yes I do! I don't remember muck else though. Who was his co-presenter? He was brunette, and I think he wore glasses. And played the drums? I might be thinking of another programme, I'm so confused.

Still, Muppet Babies was good though.

Chris Evans was better on the radio. (GLR, that is, not Radio 1 or Virgin)

Who were the Muppet Parents? Surely Kermit and Miss Piggy's babies wouldn't be a frog and a pig but a bizarre mixture of the two.

Or a Pog? Remember them? Sort of like Pokemon in the olden days.

Sure you don't mean Pob? That big-eared puppet with his tongue always half out. On Channel 4?

Oh, Pog! Those horrible cardboard discs you had to hit with a plastic disc. One of my favourite Simpsons episodes features ALF Pogs. If only they existed...

"Remember Alf? He's back! In Pog form!"
