That's a good list, Justin, but I wouldn't include the Jerry Sppringer interview as I think it fell flat. There's no way of 'exposing' him as some sort of completely amoral freak-show ringmaster since he's always openly acknowledging it. Don't think the Morton interview stands up to more than one listen either, so its inclusion on the CD surprised me somewhat, as did the choice of monologue.
One of my favourite BJ sketches off the top of my head was the one with the middle class couple who kept lions as pets and laid landmines in the neighbours' drive (can't help copying the way he says "Look at thaaaaat" as Mr Nash goes up in smoke).
Definitely Rothko, and also that sketch about the journalist testing Hot Dogs. And possibly the Diana funeral speech too, though that's unlikely.
Just listened to the Doc Rude track. That shocked me, which is the first time in ages that's happened.
Rothko
A Man, A Gun And A Gibbon
Baby Fighting
David Bowie's Marriage Guidance Service
Candle In The Wind '97 Backwards
Speedking Hawking
Stomach Gun
The Landlord
The Dance Chart
Raspberry Phone
Murderer Who Can't Taunt Victim's Family Properly
The Intro From 3/2 ("midnight sirens lead to blueflash roadmash")
The Outro From 1/1 ("place your face in the puddle of a layby, waiting for lorry to splash it")
Dance News, oh most definitely.
"Whenever I put one on, Dave Pearce runs into the room going, "Ooh! This is cool!" It's not cool, Dave. It's - shit -."
The Wedding monologue from series 3, episode 5 as well.
Rothko, obviously
Unnecessary Operations
Bad Sex 2 ("Suck My Twin")
Mr Lizard
Canary
Tropical Fish
Car Parking Service (maybe not the most stand-out sketch they did, but a personal favourite)
Stolen Children Helpline
Maria terrorising the man in his farmhouse
Incidentally, when I did a mixed Blue Jam bootleg a couple of years ago and distributed it to various friends and colleagues, I quickly discovered that such a sustained strong dose, without the dissipating effect of the soothing musical interludes, could provoke an intense reaction. Already bombarded by 'Bad Sex', 'Cunts of Gold' and 'Unnecessary Operations', three people told me they'd had to switch off for a while after the "child's pelvis stuffed down the toilet" portion of 'Stolen Children'. We established that the optimum way to listen to a 'Blue Jam' compilation was to listen to maybe three sketches at a time, and then stop - to listen to a piece of music, maybe go and make some tea, certainly do something else for bit - then listen to three or four more items, and so on. Friends reported that this vastly increased their enjoyment, both of 'Blue Jam' and of life. Maybe similar instructions should be included on future 'Blue Jam' releases...
P.S. Obviously my reference to a 'Blue Jam bootleg' in the above post was a light-hearted flight of fancy, and such an item does not actually exist, for the benefit of any twitchy Beeb lawyers who might happen to glance through this thread.
Baby Wrestling.
The swearing doc... "Wanky Window"
Rothko woofed.
"Dream about a reefer five feet long"
A ticket that lets me into the cages... "I want them to feel my jam between their toes"
I'd be another person to vote for the Dance News bit.
I think the monologue is one of the best things on the Cd - as well as the Mr Lizard thing - which makes me laugh everytime i hear it. Can't think why...
I'd add the Policeman who's just run over someone's son. I was genuinely quite shocked by that.
I agree - "dreamin' 'bout a reefer, five feet long" should be on there...
Funnily enough, Mogwai, exactly the same thing happened to me when I dubbed off a compilation for friends. They said, "it's just too much at once". I actually think what would have been lovely (but probably impractical) would have been to issue a double Blue Jam CD containing musical interludes as well. There were loads of good tracks on it (although some were unidentifiable, and incidentally, if anyone has a full and frank list of tracks - TJ? - I'd be extremely interested).

The BBC themselves did a comprehensive tracklisting and issued it with the publicity for the first series, though I don't have a copy myself. Might be worth bothering someone there.
I suggested 'Mr Lizard' in my Blue Jam Vol. 2 wish-list. Of course if I'd actually listened to the album before I posted I'd have noticed that the sodding thing is on there already. Dammit.
Oh, and another thing: wouldn't Chris have had to have had (grammar, boy, grammar) clearance to use the Andrew Morton interview? Does this mean that the self-aggrandising pig's uterus agreed to the inclusion of his humiliation on the album? Or does he appear without his consent?
I too would like a tracklist if anyone knows of one. I had thought that after the protracted clearances Warp waded through to get the thing released they might have played some of the songs in full- there's a lot on there, but it does need them between the sketches for the right ambience/ pacing/ timing. Which is precisely the fault with (TV) Jam.

The full tracklisting is in development by myself and the good folks at Cook'd And Bomb'd (Neil, Boki, Stephen Hawking, Ziggy, 9 etc etc), but it's a very long haul identifying everything... if anyone has queries over the identity of specific tracks, email me and I'll see what I can do.

If you could dig it out that'd be great. It's something Cook'd & Bomb'd gets asked about virtually every month. I tried putting in a query via the BBC website and didn't even get an acknowledgement (but hey! Don't forget they really value all feedback).

Aaagh! Excuse my stupityme, Mogwai. I'd read that as 'I might have a copy myself', hence the first sentance of my reply in the message above this one not making any sense whatsoever.
nothing to see here, move along folks....

Thanks for that, Pint. I have noted it.
TJ, what I'll do, I'll send you a list of what I know for sure, with question marks where necessary. The sketch stuff is particularly hard to decipher, though...

Thanks for that- when Radio 1 repeated Series 3 over the summer they had a page up with tracklistings which when I compare the two were about 50% incomplete.

Never quite understood why they didn't just re-upload the microsite from the first run of series 3 (from which the guide on CaB is taken).
CaB?
Cook'd and Bomb'd.
On the subject of the CD, I noticed that Moloko's 'Day For Night' (er, backing music to track 2, I think) isn't credited on the sleeve. Dunno why.
Boringly enough, this may only be because only a snippet of the song is featured, and so it might not qualify for its own acknowledgement. Certainly that's how it (kind of) works for royalties on the radio.
So because it was just a single snippet, rather than a looped sample, they don't have to credit it? Interesting.
No, you're right, it's boring.
true (though nonetheless boring) all the tracks featured as fleetingly as moloko's are credited! (inside back page of booklet).
But then just because it isn't credited doesn't mean it hasn't been cleared & paid for. I should imagine any form of written credit is a courtesy/ info for listeners at most.
All of these, please:
