Tv-choice- FRIDAY Posted Fri Oct 27 10:17:55 BST 2000 by 'Mr Television Tonight'

Friday 27th October 2000 TV cHoice

THE NEW BILL, 8.00pm ITV- all regions

- The latest from Sun Hill concerning Beech and his gang. Not to be missed tonight.

********************************************

CORONATION STREET, 7.30pm ITV- all regions

- Fred asks Audrey to mary him- only to be shocked by her reply. Ashley and Maxine have a picture painted of themselves and Curly is upset that Raquel has disappeared on him and Emma. Tonight's episode is soppy, but better than anything else that's on.

*********************************************

EMMERDALE, 7.00pm ITV- all regions

- Diane's husband gets drunk with Paddy- that's as exciting it gets today...
Still one of the best things tonight, though.

********************************************

LIVE TALK, 2.00pm ITV- all regions

- Good show. Perhaps not as good as it was when named LOOSE WOMEN but still a good chat (the sort of chat that old women do when hanging their washing out, talking over the garden fence) with Nadia, Emily and Jenny.

********************************************

Baby Baby, 2.30pm ITV- CARLTON LONDON, CARLTON CENTRAL and CARLTON WESTCOUNTRY only

- Advice on a wide range of motherhood issues presented by mother Melinda Messenger. Good watch today.

*********************************************

And if you want something light for the afternoon, we suggest...

TOP 10- OF EVERYTHING!, 4.45pm ITV- all regions

- Good programme coming live from what are soon to be Carlton Harlech Studios (the current HTV West base) in Bristol. Today it is TOP 10- TRICKS with Stephen Mulhern. There is also a phone vote and several kids' competitions. Good idea, rushed too much for the kids, though.

*********************************************

And the regions today...

LONDON TONIGHT, 6.00pm ITV- CARLTON LONDON only

- After yesterday's derailment in Surrey, they take a look at what the government has to say about the trains of today- again!

********************************************

BORDER LOOKAROUND, 6.00pm ITV- BORDER region only

- A special mention to all you little people in the Cumbrian countryside.
Watch it if you're up that way, anyway.

******************************************

CALENDAR NEWS, 5.55pm ITV- YORKSHIRE only

- previewed earlier in the week, also, this show is quite good for news, now.

********************************************

MERIDIAN TONIGHT, 6.00pm ITV- MERIDIAN SOUTH EAST only

- This edition of MT is only going to be shown in the Maidstone part of the region. We saw it on Wednesday and saw a good show. There are new weather graphics and a more relaxed feel to the show. Well done.

********************************************

To stop any cheeky complaints on the last day of TV Choice we are going to give a special mention to some other important regional programmes that you seem to like from ITV...

Too right, The Bill is on absolutely top form right now. It's actually become one of the best things on TV. Who'd have thought it? Not me three years ago....

You are kidding? Emmerdale is appaling. It makes EastEnders look like 'Death of a Salesman'. I caught the last two minutes tonight and it saw the most risibly over-ripe melodramatic tripe I've ever seen. And it's always like that. Or just dull.

And as for other things worth watching? Er.. Black Books? HIGFNY? Die Hard 2?
Anything else in the whole world ever?
