I think you are being slightly harsh, as you are probably aware. I was merely suggesting that the new series is an improvement on the last. BETTER presenters, BETTER writing style. Not perfect presenters or writing by any means. And as for the Daisy/Sarah comparison, that was a joke - maybe I should have underlined it, or punctuated it with an exclamation mark! Like that.

The worst aspect of the show's current incarnation (incidentally, the series would have benefited enormously from a Dr Who-style Iain/Daisy handover episode where they began the show as usual and then morphed painfully into her who you fancied off Coupling until she started doing this show and him out of Another Level) is the fact that it's turned into Comedy Nation. Ever watch that patchy jumble of a show and wonder what its various contributors went on to do? Turns out that, three or four years down the line, they're all doing exactly the same fucking thing, only now they've found a big-budget prime comedy slot to do it on, and they still can't be bothered to write any decent material. Buller, Style Wankers - I fully expect the Cheese Shop to have their own regular slot doing that 'Live & Kicking' school sketch by the end of the series...

You're saying that as someone who has seen these people's work before, as have most of the contributors to this forum. I might suggest however that the majority of the 11OCS audience were blissfully unaware of these people. They were probably asked to do these characters by the producers.

I think Bulla is quite good as it goes...Style wankers are shit though.

Don't get me wrong, Ricky Grover is a good performer, and the first time you see him performing either as himself or as "Buller" he can be extremely funny. Round about the fortieth time round, however, some of the sheen has definitely worn off.

Watched the highlights programme last night. Well, yes it's marginally less obnoxious than in the IL days. I even laughed at the joke where parents might name their children "Toploader". (A joke that a child at junior school could have written, admittedly.) And Holmes and Alexander are better than Lee and Donovan.

But,...it's still not enough. It looks full of terror, and I'm sorry whoever questioned it, but what's bloody wrong with suggesting a weekly show, rather than three-times a week? It took the Day Today team 18 months to make six programmes - the 11ocs (clearly full of a creative team who idolise Morris et al but have nothing original of their own to offer) is inevitably rushed, and looks it.

As for Gratuitous Wood: I have never seen anything on a comedy show so blatantly and patronisingly aimed at pissed people who don't really like comedy but quote "outrageous" TV bits at each other in the office the next day. Whoever devised this idea is truly a cunt. (Oh, and it's not even original. The Lettuce Family on TMWRNJ was infinitely more amusing.)
