SKY ONE EVENT OF THE WEEK: TV YEARS - 1981
**New Special**

Sky One takes an unashamed wallow in the time that taste forgot. Featuring classic clips and celebrity contributions, TV Years - 1981 takes an irreverent look at the programmes that made us choke on our Beaujolais Nouveau during that heady period after we said goodbye to disco and hello to shoulder pads.

Archive clips at the beginning of the show set the year in historical context by having a laugh - er, taking a look, at the current fads and fashions, as well as the news and the famous faces of that year. Then delve into the opulent highs and the shocking lows of programming through the year.

1981 shall forevermore be remembered as the year when our own bonnie Prince Charlie tied the knot with the even more bonnie Lady Diana in a Royal Wedding never to be forgotten. Celebrities from Toyah Wilcox to Boy George, Matthew Kelly to jolly Jilly Cooper share their memories of this fantastic TV Event of the century, recalling where they were on that magical day.

Harry Enfield, Jim Bowen and Mark & Lard also cast a wry eye over the year's most popular game shows, 3-2-1 and Bullseye, while comedians Peter Kay and Lenny Henry give the low-down on the year's top cop shows, Magnum PI (starring the tasty Tom Selleck in his pre-Monica days) and Bergerac.

For anyone who watched television in the '80s, TV Years - 1981 allows a hugely entertaining, unadulterated lounge into the nostalgia of the top TV of 1981.

The Sky One Event Of The Week: TV Years - 1981 can be seen on Sunday 29 October at 21.00 and is repeated on Tuesday 7 November at 21.00

All these clip shows remind me of the Monkfish joke from the Fast Show:

"Every Bloody Night For The Rest Of Your Life"

Er, Paul... that was a parody, right? It wasn't a genuine listing, was it?

Peter Kay looks at cop shows... why?

I wish it was a parody... it's a direct cut 'n' paste from a Sky Press Release I received yesterday.

It won't be long before we have 'The Best of The 100 Best Clip Shows ever'- isn't TV inventive and varied these days?
