Doubt it.
FACT: I have never seen the film 'ET' and never will.
Speilberg's releasing a 2001 'special edition' of ET, as well as letting the little fella do a series of crap BT ads (although Stratosphere sound quite good). But does Steven Speilberg REALLY need the money after making the three highest grossing films ever?
Or is he just being greedy?

But you read the newspapers/watch the news? Jon, I'm worried about you, love. That's no way to live.

I think ET is being licenced to BT much in the same way loads of other big name American stars appear in ads in far off foreign countries and the US domestic market is none the wiser.
For example, Forrest Gump speaks in favour of National Service on Vietnamese TV.
The Sopranos are used to sell coach holidays in Madagascar.
Big Bird from Sesame Street is a regular compere of Lebanon's top-rated stand-up show.
Gloria Estefan advertises steel girders on Brazilian TV
Christopher Reeves....no, I can't
Best that you don't.
Bell Atlantic could well be using Mooncat or Metal Mickey and we'd be none the wiser.
Mark Thomas does loads of ads for Shell, McDonalds, Marlboro, Coca Cola, Du Pont, US Atomic Energy Agency, NORAD, the CIA, and Support Oliver North For President 2004. And Persil.
Chris Morris advertises for a leading jam manufacturer in Thailand.
...and Steve Coogan, in character as Alan Partridge, advertises A-Ha's new album.
>Mark Thomas does loads of ads for Shell, McDonalds, Marlboro, Coca Cola, Du Pont, US Atomic Energy Agency, NORAD, the CIA, and Support Oliver North For President 2004. And Persil.
Don't forget his Nestle ads in the developing countries.

I don't think I have either - except possibly when I was very young. An orchestra I used to be in played the music once, though.
De, de, de-de de-de de, de

Isn't that the whole point of ET? Doesn't everyone see it when they're very young? Isn't it, basically, a kids film?
Not enough guns in it for me, I'm afraid. At least I assume there isn't, since I haven't seen it since I was very young :-)
Did anyone see *batteries not included (note correct formatting) on BBC 1 on Sunday?
Surprisingly dark in places, Jessica Tandy calling that man her son Bobby was very Jam-like. And the effects were suprising good too, no computers, just stop-motion. Better than I remember it, when I saw it when I was very young...
It's nice to see the actor getting a bit of work from the ads, though. He was typecast after ET and the only stuff he did afterwards was promoting charities for the condition he had (Rielson's disease or something).
Lucky it wasn't diabetics considering how much sugar the film contains.
