>It's the series that the BBC are currently showing (season 7?), so if you missed any of them and have Sky and have a video recorder/are unemployed/are an insomniac then it's your lucky day...
It's actually season 8, the penultimate one (1996-97). BBC2 screen the final episode of that season (Summer Of George) on Wednesday night.
Paul - do you know if Sky are planning to show earlier series? I don't have satellite, cable or digital at the moment - and I want first three series for posterity.
If so, and even if not, can someone tell me what is the cheapest way to get digital? We're renting a digital TV from Granada, and we don't need sport or movies. All I really want it for at the moment is Simpsons, Futurama, Seinfeld (if they're showing old ones) and TGP on Sky One, plus Python on UK Gold.
Any ideas? Sorry, I know I should just phone Granada...
I don't understand why Seinfeld has to be on in the graveyard shift - is there some sort of contractual obligation to show it on New York time?
They don't trust it enough to put it in a regular timeslot. They cite low ratings... because it's at 3AM, you fools! Same rationale as c4 with Babylon 5, when they kept moving it about so NO BUGGER COULD FIND IT when they changed it from one week to the next, and ABC with My So-Called Life (i'm working on something I was told by Ewar -or possibly kinder - for this one).
*ahem* I'm calm. i'm calm.
Justin - got my OnDigital box from Dixons for nowt. (Although I guess you don't need one) The subscription basic package includes Sky One (Simpsons, Futurama) and Uk Gold (various stuff - some good) but not Paramount - you'll need Sky Digital for that.
I don't think Sky One have the rights to earlier seasons of Seinfeld any more - Paramount do. That would explain why Sky 1 are showing season 8 - Paramount are about to show season 7, so I assume that Sky are just showing it because they still have the rights to one repeat screening before Paramount get it.
I would expect Paramount will repeat the earlier seasons, but I wouldn't like to say for definite. They usually repeat the hell out of anything they get the rights to, though.
If you're prepared to wait a few months, Paramount will be available through OnDigital from January 2001, I think.

Woohoo!!!!
Thanks Paul thanks Al - I think after Christmas then!
Paul - are you definite about the date, or simply that Paramount will be going through OnD - we can't stick a dish on the side of our block you see, or else we'd have got Sky Digital in the first place...
That's the date that is mentioned every now and then on Paramount's text page whenever anyone asks. I also just found this:
Paramount: Comedy channel, due January 1st 2001. (from http://www.dvdfever.co.uk/ondigita.shtml).
So it seems likely, but don't blame me if it fails to materialise!
Also found this on http://www.ptext.com dated September 5th:
I'd like to know why Paramount Comedy Channel is not on ONdigital.
Because it is not January 2001 yet. If you wait until that time, you'll find that you'll be able to enjoy daily yuks on your onbox. Although of course there will be no Paramount Text. But so much great comedy!
So there you go...
'Bout time something decent was on OnDigital - apart from UKPlay of course.....
Needless to say, that was a joke. Hmmmm
Irish TV show Seinfeld all the time. I guess because it's cheap for them to buy, really. I got to see "The Contest" a couple of weeks ago, which, if memory serves me correctly, wasn't shown on BBC2 (they showed some Seinfeld, then took it off the schedules (again), then, when they started showing it again, they missed out this classic episode). I have almost every Seinfeld on video, over 15 tapes, but at times the quality is really shit. Why they release Friends and Frasier to buy, but not the 'feld, I'll never understand.
Oh yeah, because it's on really late, and no-one watches it.
Favourite episodes: The Junior Mint, The Stakeout
That is all.
Seinfeld is the only show on BBC2 now. Check it out. Go out, visit a friend for the evening, wander home at any time.Have a cup of tea, think idly :
"I wonder whats on TV" and hey presto, its Seinfeld.
And what can be funnier than endless re-runs of a tired old formula. If that doesn't get you, they havea really funny guy with sticky up hair. Its hilarious and...oh no what am I saying its purile rubbish that almost makes Frasier look funny.
Well, you'll be delighted to know that there won't be any on BBC2 now until "next year".
You just slated two of the funniest, most original shows on TV in one posting there, imho. I'm impressed in a way - at least you're not spouting received opinions, I suppose.
But I disagree.
