I bought the latest Cousteau single the other week. It sounds like Lionel Ritchie.
Oddly enough I bought the latest Lionel Ritchie single and it sounded like Cousteau.
A man talking French underwater?
Jon - you're having a laugh? Are we talking of the same Cousteau? the one with the wah-wah-waaahh.... kinda sound?
anyway, never mind that....where did you buy it?
I think Jon meant Jaques Cousteau, the wag.
Obviously Jon's the wag. Not jaques Cousteau. He's a diver. is he dead? i hope not.
Way over my head...... but Sam D - sounds like you know who I'm talking of? Where can I get the album?
Hmm.... not really.. not available from hmv.co.uk... but then what is? I don't know that much about 'em.. Jon probably has a far better idea than me.
You could try the Record Research Centre;. They specialize in deleted items. You can email them via their
website at www.adler-music.co.uk
Can't guarantee success though.
I boutght "She don't hear your prayer" (if that's the right title) last week and I still say that the A-side sounds like a Lionel Ritchie song. The b-sides were Ok, though one of them was a remix of something or other.
Actually, I've already posted this opinion on a forum where some Cousteau fans malinger, and I'm very diappointed to get no reaction, not even a few dyslexic death threats. Fans aren't what they used to be.
And I bought it in HMV in Oxford St. If you have trouble getting records, try either:
www.opalmusic.com
or:
www.action-records.co.uk
Opal are brilliant, if they have something they get it to you within 1-2 days. And if they don't have any copies they tell you straight away, rather than a couple of weeks later, as some dealers do.
Chloe -
Because I love you I've just had a look and I see that neither of those 2 have the Cousteau album. However,
www.sisterray.co.uk
have 'Last Good Day..' on either 7 inch or CD, but they don't have the album either. They've just updated their catalog so I presume they have that available. Anyhow, I don't think Cousteau stuff is exactly selling out at the minute.
But wasn't it the album that you wanted? Try looking at:
www.demon.co.uk/gemarecords/
I've got stuff off them before and they take about 1 week.
Otherwise find other dealers in the back pages of NME. There's one in Bath who I bought something off once and can't remember the name, but he was good though.
I WAS WRONG, I've just looked again and Sister Ray do have the album. So order on-line off them.
It takes them at least a week to do anything, mind.
Told you Jon'd know!
Um... there's nothing very clever or knowledgable about looking in someone's on-line catalog, y'know... don't start worshipping electricity or anything, Sam...
Worship electricity? No fear!
Even transferred my electricity bill to the Gas Board! That showed the Electricity Board! Ha!
And... and... AND my electricity bill is about twice as expensive now! Well, that showed me.
Bastards.
Good job you didn't transfer your electricity to the water board. Then you'd have had a shock!.. ha ha... you see?... oh, sod you all...
Sam D and Jon (particularly Jon - sorry Sam D) I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your assistance, brain power, knowledge, and most of all, your electricity usage.
Jon - Love?! Really? ..and we've not even swapped baby photos, hideous parent meetings or juices! so here, by cyber magic, are mine:
baby photo ;-}
hideous parents >:-{
juices ~~~~~~~SLURP~~~~~
Don't worry about thanking Jon more. Thanks is the only thanks I need.
Boh.
But do you ever get other kinds of thianks, Sam?
Perhaps you've become resigned to your lot in life.
I think I've got a rather good lot, actually.
I don't think I often portray quite how mind-bendingly happy I am.
But is there a Crying Clown inside your Laughing Clown?
Ah yes, but within that is a manic depressive with a deck of cards, a copy of the Beano summer special and a yo-yo.
And he's listening to the Cousteau album and singing along: "Say you, say me/ Say it forever..."
HMV are definitely shit - Just been to the one in Piccadilly, and they don't even have the Cousteau album. Crap, Crap, Crap, Carp
Sorry that wasn't meant to be carp, but crap!
Have you mailed Sister Ray yet? Expect it to take a week.
It's on my "must do" list...... in the mean time I'm quite enjoying whingeing about record shops.
"Last good day of the year"
...has been released as a single today (Oct 16th).
Well, I've just ordered the bloody thing, even if you don't want it now.
>Well, I've just ordered the bloody thing, even if you don't want it now.
Still want it - just too apathetic currently. Listen to it for me would you?
So just gone to www.sisterray.co.uk
and you smug little thing - it is rather a good site.
I nearly bought the Cousteau album, together with Coldplay and the two Drugstore albums... but then realised i don't have any money til pay day. D'oh!
BTW - Drugstore were on Sean Hughes' show on London Live on Sunday and they announced that they are touring in February 2001, and being supported by ..... COUSTEAU! Two for the price of one! Stunning.
Well, I've got the single now, and I've heard it once. There is a definite Ritchie aspect to it all.
>But is there a Crying Clown inside your Laughing Clown?
it is all lies
lies
idnetns
You a Cousteau fan as well? I prefer The Commodores.
One possible reason the Cousteau stuff keeps vanishing from record shops like HMV is that
a) they initially released the album on their own label with a tiny weeny distribution deal
and
b) then they (and I can't believe they did this) decided to RERECORD the whole thing when they got some big money from a big record label, and delete the old version.
Like Van Gogh painting over Sunflowers cos he'd bought a more expensive brush...
Lionel Ritchie would NEVER have done that to Dancing On The Ceiling.
