Starting on Saturday 7 October at 9.05 on BBC2:
"I Love 2000"
New ten-part retrospective season looking at the events that defined and shaped the year that is this one. In the first programme, one of the girl ones from Big Brother reflects on what a year it was for her, while Julie Burchill pretends to like Craig David, Jamie Theakston gets misty-eyed about the memories of the 11 O'Clock Show, Peter Kay sings the theme from Tweenies hilariously forgetting all the words, Stuart Maconie says "zeitgeist" at one point, and the curious rise of talking head Wayne Hemingway is examined in this exclusive extract:
JAMIE THEAKSTON: He wore glasses and he used to talk in a Northern accent. (shakes head with pretend disbelief)
JOHNNY VEGAS: No-one had ever heard of 'im, had they?
WAYNE HEMINGWAY: He never really had anything of value to say, did he? Just stated the bloody obvious - but just not quite as obviously as Jamie Theakston.
(Cut to clip of Wayne Hemingway last week.)
STUART MACONIE: "He certainly wasn't Ernest Hemingway, was he? Did you spot that cultural reference? I'm clever, me."
AINSLEY HARRIOTT: (Sings) "Wayne Hemingway!!!"
