This runs the risk of looking cute, but I enjoyed it as a kid. I kind of liked the way BB's voice used to fluctuate between erudite quintessential English, and a Cockney rasp - possibly not unlike Kenneth Williams.
The last time I saw BB (on fantasy Football League) it seemed the guy who did his voice was either pissed or going slowly doolally.
He always reminds me of a Leslie Phillips sort of character. Very saucy and tongue in cheek. I wonder if there's a 'Basil-Uncut' tape floating around, in the hands of some VT editors.
