Hmmm...well, I'm tempted to write that D Donovan's character (dental nurse with no brain) can't have taken much research. But I won't.
Robert Lindsay overacted (something he has started to do a lot in recent years), Zoe Wanamaker wasn't really given enough to do (I think she's great, given the right material), but the most annoying thing about it so far is the insistence in the press releases (faithfully reproduced in all listings magazines) that creator Fred Barron is the man who helped shape "Seinfeld" and "The Larry Sanders Show" over in the States.
Couple of things here:
Barron didn't write a single episode of "Seinfeld", and wasn't even on the writing staff. I have a feeling the same is true of Sanders too. So why is he being given this sort of build-up? Or was he one of the NBC executives who was quite happy to trumpet Seinfeld *after* its ratings soared in 1993, even though they wanted it off the air for the first three years?
Anyone know?
