False. Carlton has no plans to reinstate the names of either Central or Westcountry. To be honest no one really cares what the station is called as long as their favourite shows are still on.
What they now need to do is to change the local news programme to Carlton News and Carlton Sport - to have Central News on Carlton at the Heart of the itv Network is just silly. Just one branding is fine - and as I mentioned most viewers don't care.

This has been discussed here far too many times. Needless to say, you're wrong. If people didn't care then we'd still have Channel 3 North East on our screens.
Jase does this speech far more equiquantly (sp?) than me.
:)
And of course if no-one gives a damn then why did they change in the first place?

Because they wanted to be able too stick Carlton on more than a few progs. They didn't want loads of 'their' programmes with CENTRAL stuck on them.
Yeah but they could have done that without changing the franchise names...
Well it would be brilliant if the name came back and even better if it brought back its old cake logo in some shape or form. Whether or not it happens remains to be seen but when TT changed back from C3 did people know in advance or did it just happen??
Carlton have said that they are not returning it to me as well, but you know...they might be lying..that "We have no plans to re-instate any Central or Westcountry branding across the respective regions, for the near future" - Is just a corporate reply
It wouldn`t surprise me if they were lying, then again we will probably go the same way when Granada take us over
