Dreena Darrel Posted Fri Sep 15 12:13:23 BST 2000 by Jon

(This is for Janet, really)

Aussie stand-up lady. I might not have spelt her name right. I've never seen her. But she mentioned in an article years and years ago as brilliant/next big thing, but I've never heard of her since. Can't think why I just remembered her, really.

Anyone know anything about her? She was working in London in the early 90s.

Here's another one who was never involved in the Australian comedy scene (maybe in Sydney a loooong time ago early in her career - never did anything here).
Something tells me she works sometimes with Jenny Eclair. Am I totally off-kilter? I know Jenny co-writes with some Aussie.
Have I been of help Jon, or have I just frustrated you further?

Just like Brendan Burns! Though sadly not just like Julia Morris, who is best known for being loud, talentless and publicity hungry to the point of losing a lot of weight so she could get in all the women's mags.

Janet - is it true there's been a new series of The Games on recently?

Didn't she appear in Jerry Sadowitz's "The Pall Bearers' Revue" some years ago? I think it was her and I think she was very good in it.

Bean, you're right. There was another brilliant series of The Games on pre-Olympics. John Clark is a comic treasure of immeasurable talent. Will the rest of the world ever know this? Possibly not, and the last person to be concerned about is Clark himself. Other forum folk, kill to get hold of material by this man or his alter ego, Fred Dagg.

Other comedy gold here in Oz is the wonderful Micallef Programme, getting better and better each series. Plus at the moment there is HG and Roy's late night Olympic show The Dream. Their love and respect for sport provides the perfect base for brilliant underplay and deadly irony. Sports such as weightlifting and rhythmic gymnastics are suddenly must-sees just for their chokingly hilarious commentary.

Other Oz TV -GNW is same-same, The Panel is still okay, and the ABC and SBS have tried a couple of worthy, but not great projects. Rove is coming back on Channel 10 soon, so looking forward to that.
