New Controller of BBC1 Posted Thu Sep 14 19:05:25 BST 2000 by NF

So the BBC has appointed that woman Heggessay as its controller, great track record....Animal Hospital and all....the great Richard Bacon Dissappointment speech...in inspiring hands then.

The new controller should be a machine which spits out random Combinations of Anne Robinson, Carol Smile, Dale Winton and Alan Titchmarch...we call it the COMPTROLLER...

Well, it's nice to see she got the job she's always wanted, but is there going to be any improvements in programming and schedules? The fact that she has Animal Hospital on her CV doesn't inspire confidence.

Narrator (Posh Harry Enfield Voice): The British Broadcasting Company's Television Channels. A splendid example of public service broadcasting of which we may be justly proud. But who's this approaching the Controller's chair? (Horrified) It's a woman! How can a lady of the fair sex be expected to run a highly complex technical operation like a television service?
Woman: Well, I don't know an awful lot about all these complicated television cameras and transmitters and things (simpers) they're much too complicated for my sweet, feminine mind. But I do know about fluffy bunny rabbits. Won't that do? (She pushes a button on her desk. MODEL SHOT of BBC TV Centre exploding. We cut back to the woman, standing n the wreckage, dishevilled and slightly embarrassed.) ...Sorry.
Narrator: Women! Know your limits! For heaven's sake, don't try to run television stations! (Fade out)
