That's young. What did he die from? Bit like Richard Beckinsale.
Only info I can find is on Ceefax, apparently he "died peacefully after a long illness, friends and colleagues are stunned". It is very young, younger than my parents, it's very sad.
He died of cancer, full story here:

It's a tragedy when anyone dies this young. And I would not be so stupid as to confuse someone's on-screen persona, or just their ability to perform, with who they actually are in real life.
But I have to say that, no matter what a nice man he may have been, Gary Olsen was the single least funny actor I have ever seen, and I dread the impending onslaught of "comic genius" claims that are probably now heading our way.
He wasn't a comedy genius, but neither he nor 2.4C were the unmitigated disasters you've been led to believe. Take another look.
Will they keep it going with a different actor?
They'll bring his son in - who has never acted before.
I thought he was good in "The Yob".
2.4 children started off quite well, it was when they replaced the original 'Jenny' woth that mong from Grange Hill that it went downhill.
So you're basing the quality of a sitcom on how much you fancy the characters? Fair enough.
You're not THE Darren D, are you?

I thought Margot and Barbara would make a superb couple!
