TV Nation

By the by - seem to remember someone slagging this on the old BFI list thread. I thought it was extremely good. Louis Theroux's bits were terrific and Moore's stuff was him at his best. Tomandandy's theme tun was one of the greatest TV themes ever. The Awful Trutth is a poor substitute - and the interesting thing is Moore claims he has had a lot more editorial control over this. Perhaps talent needs something internal to rail against?
Any thoughts? On any of it?

Al - I agree. The divine Janeane Garofalo was also involved, as was Theroux, and (occasionally) the mighty Steven Wright (loved his report about three syllable jingles). But The Awful Truth is horrible, self-important, self-satisfied guff, and completely deserves its graveyard slot.

Once more, I find myself in complete agreement with Justin.
Plus I never have had time for all those idiots who claim that Moore is automatically better than CM because he is 'more political'.

On the subject of Michael Moore, I can't recommend his book "Downsize This!" highly enough. It is quite simpy dead, dead funny. His suggestions for what should be on the American flag had me giggling for ages.

And the chapter on why OJ Simpson is innocent is highly convincing (really!)
